Okay, I did a Google search on wiggle and australia and came up with this as the number one hit.  So I think I understand the joke now.

They recommend something called a portafilter wiggle.

What colour shirt does that one wear?

There is a large lever following on Home-Barista.com as well.  They have an entire sub-forum dedicated to lever machines.

They recommend something called a portafilter wiggle.  Its best for you to read about it as Ive never done it.

Just do a search on clean or cleaning plus Pavoni in the Lever Espresso Machines sub-forum, you should get quite a few hits.

thanks for that bean - i would definitely second a Lever Lovers Lounge - plus I love alliteration lol!
Its just so odd to me not to backflush - Proper cleaning having been drilled into me, I guess I kind of figured there must be some sort of way, but if cleaning the group head is all there is too it, I shouldnt complain!

Id come across a couple of those links, but that francesco ceccarelli one looks like a lot of very interesting reading indeed, so thanks again!

Have fun playing with your new toy!

    Howdy,

just picked up one as well (hasnt arrived yet) No valve so no backflushing in the normal sense. Cleaning on the group and occasional descale seems to be the normal.

A few good links I have run across below.
    http://www.lapavoni.com/home.asp?lang=en
    http://www.pavoniexpress.com/index.html
    http://www.orphanespresso.com/
    http://www.francescoceccarelli.eu/index_eng.htm
    http://coffeegeek.com/forums/espresso/leverespresso

I am thinking we need a special thread perhaps the Lever Lovers Lounge

    Cleaning La Pavoni Professional?

Never having used or owned a lever type machine before, whats the process for a proper clean? Can I backflush, and if so where to get a blind for the small PF size (51?), or is it a matter of pull apart everything?
Bought second hand from ebay, so no retailer to consult.

Also, theres no wire in the PF to hold the basket in place - is this normal? I saw one youtube vid and the guy was spinning the basket very freely (to help settle the grinds before tamping) so maybe this is just how they are?

    TIA!
Working...
