  • which grinder as a step up from our em480?

Weve just picked up a lovely little Rancilio s24 (single group commercial) on ebay. Were hoping to use it for community events, you know fetes, school fund-rasiers, church events etc. and may even enjoy it ourselves  We are now thinking that our well loved em480 grinder may not be up to the task. Any ideas for something that would be able to go all day once in a while? Would the Rocky w/doser cope or do we need to look at a level beyond the $300 (secondhand) mark?

    Thanks

If you are doing heaps of coffees a second hand Super Jolly would be the way to go, domestic grinders would be a tad slow unless you pregrind and fill the doser.

      Agree a Mazzer Super Jolly

You can add to that short list a used Gino Rossi RR 45 commercial grinder you will be glad you did

I picked up a Gino Rossi from Omaras for around $300.

Mmm.... given budgetry constraints we will go with a Rocky freshly sourced through CS. Grinding between shots should be OK, maybe even starting with a doser that we could grind while the S24 is warming up.

Maybe not ideal, but our competition is am old lady with an oversize tin of International Groast.

Like the sound of those other machines though!

          Thanks for the advice
