Hi all It's 2022 and i have just picked up a twice used Em6910. I have been using a Brevvile to make coffee for parents at school. Due to demand the milk was taking a while so I bought this one. Switching on it does the normal green power light then. . . The red and you guessed it it keeps blinking red (not solid) I work as a Chapain and just love making coffees for the school parents. the machine size is just fine for the demand. Has anyone found an answer. It seems to do everything else ok. I realise its a old post so please humor me. Chappy

Sorry to dig up an old thread. My em6910 did the same this morning with the red power light flashing constantly. It's a stinking hot day up here in QLD today. The air temp was 35 degrees inside the house by my coffee machine and after being on for about an hour the front panel was too hot to touch for more than a few seconds. The hot water wand was running intermittently but water ran through the group head ok.

After leaving it off for an hour or so cool down everything seems to have returned to normal.

I'm wondering if it's an overheat warning?

To the op did your machine end up dying or did you replace it before that?

The machine worked perfectly fine otherwise and it wouldnt always flash, so I just learnt to live with it.
    Same for me atm.

Its been sitting at the SB service centre for nearly 4 weeks now waiting for a repair quote. I suspect it will cost more than its worth.
I would be interested to know the outcome.

I know what you mean about being confused by choices! My advice would be to go as high end as you can, otherwise you will just keep upgrading and spending more money (like me).
If I can get a good grinder and machine for under $3k I would be happy.

Hi sjn. AFAIK the flashing red light probably didnt have anything to do with the later problems I had. I did some research into the flashing red light and couldnt find any information (I didnt try contacting Sunbeam). The machine worked perfectly fine otherwise and it wouldnt always flash, so I just learnt to live with it.

One day, I emptied the reservoir for cleaning. After replacing it and re-filling, the machine did not pump any water through the group. I presumed it was a blockage or air bubble somewhere along the line. When I couldnt flush it out I decided to take it apart (was past its warranty, just). I managed to do more damage to it whilst I was trying to fix it.

My recently deceased EM6910 had the exactly same problem as yours sjn (flashing red light). As with yours it never really seemed to effect performance.
How long did it last before it died on you, or did some other fault develop? I am researching all my options for a replacement, so much to take in and I am now getting infomation overlaod. Too many to pick from.

Hi guys, good to see so many love coffee like I do!

Was just reading up on the flashing red light thing, I have fixed a few of these and its new to me too. The one I an doing now is a EM6900, when I tern it on it heats up fine and I can steam fine now which was the fault I was fixing but now cant make coffee  or hot water, (these two are conected internaly) It heats the group head but the pump will not go, I may have left somthing unpluged inside.

Leaving it turned on probable wont start a fire because the two heating elements have thermal fuses on them that blow if it gets to hot and the pumps the same. (however these are quite a strugle to replace)

Changing the LEDs wont be to hard all you need is a screw driver and a 13mm deap sochet and a little bit of know how when it comes to pulling things apart.

Sorry for the long post I just had to get it all off mt chest.

The Zaffiro falls into the dual purpose single boiler e-61 class with the VBM Domobar Piccolo (a couple for sale in the Hardware FS section) and the Diadema Perfetta.

You will have to wait after pulling a shot to texture milk and master the art of boiler priming. The VBM and Perfetta can be tweaked for temperature with the use of a Scace device and therefore can produce great espresso. I have never seen inside a Zaffiro so am unsure if its adjustable as well...

    Hope that helps...

Just in case I decide to give the Sunbeam the flick I have been looking at the alternatives. Came across this Isomac Zaffiro & Isomac Granmacinino Combo from site sponsors Di Bartoli.

Interested in your thoughts about the Isomac Zaffiro

I only ever leave it on long enough to warm up (about 20 mins) pour my shots clean up and the turn it off.
I wonder if it could be related to my post back in January about the machine being hotter than I like it to be.

Do many leave them "on", and let them go to sleep mode?
I switch mine off after each session. As you say

the 6910 seems to warm up so fast, why bother leaving it on?
Besides - it saves on the power bill

not sure i would leave any SB, or small machine "on", imo the heat build up would have to be detrimental to the lifespan of it.

the 6910 seems to warm up so fast, why bother leaving it on?
then after a bit of a heating flush, its ready to go?

Lets see what happens with SJNs situation...  My concern would be with a fault that could lead to a fire or dangerous situation..

I Would not leave on for extended periods of time... Would have on when using and then turn it off at teh wall.

Good advice indeed. You wouldnt want to leave it unattended.

Id still be calling a few service agents to get their view in case ACog is right. Just seems a bit wierd to be flashing a certain signal.

Problem, is that many come.. get assistance / parts and then ya never hear from them again..
I admire your dedication to helping others despite that fact that many are takers and not givers.

Thanks... I dont think they intend to be, but life and priorities are such that once a problem is sorted... Many move on to other things...

Those with a true passion / desire to understand more... Tend to hang around and or re visit and it is great when you see them offer assistance...

    Such is society..
