Hi all,
My Gaggia Classic badly needs a descale. I was all ready to go, citric acid in hand, when I decided to do a quick search on CS. I dont know why it didnt dawn on be earlier but since the boiler is aluminium the descaling options are restricted. Then I noticed in a thread that Gaggia produce their own descaling agent. I have just got back from trudging around the city looking for somebody who sells it with no luck.
So, for those of you who have Classics, what do you use to descale them? I read somewhere that tartaric acid could be used in place of citric. Is this correct? If so, is the concentration similar to what you would use for citric acid? (I also have a Silvia which I descale with citric)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
p.s. In know this issue has been covered to some extent in other threads, but they generally stop short of actually spelling out the actual product and method people use for descaling.
