Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Problem
This might sound too easy. :
Have you tried taking the screen + seal out and putting it in again. Sometimes it doesnt sit properly so it leaks. Happened to me when i replaced my seal. So took it out again and put it back in and viola! 8-)
Well good luck and let us know.

You need some consistency.
Too many variables make it hard to diagnose a problem.
Send me a PM with the suburb you live in and if youre not too far away I may be able to come and have a look.
Im not as knowledgeable as AM but have "some" idea.
TG is a Strong but Quite Achiever and has had experience with yea old EM6910s...

OK.. A correct answer...C - The Sunbeam Cafe Series conical burr grinder. the one that comes with it as a promotion.
D - Locks In Straight at me, but not that tight. I pretty much have to tighten all the way to the right.

Learn to use the search function... Advanced search not Quick Search.. Look for any number of stickies as to how to use the search featuresF - Seached "EM6910 Sweet Spot" not sure what you mean??
DEFAULT = SROFLMFAO No such thing.. It is as deep or shallow as YOU choose to make it...G - Default Tamp - goes in about 2mil max.
3mm at the shallowest and may be 4 or even 5
At 2mil which is a eng measurement from the USA..
That is about 2 thousands of an inch...
Hardly and depth at all... Surprised you can even get the group to start to go in
;D
Correct terms can some times be very important...
Do the 5 cent test.... About to laugh again = Use the search feature to find out what it is
Regretably i havent cleaned it as much as i should have, but lately ive been running a cleaning powder with the cleaning disc, and letting it pour for about 5 - 10 sec.
That does not sound like what the manual says ?
1: Remove the shower screen and make sure the SS screans are totaly clean... Then follow the manual for doing a Group Head clean and THEN do a DE Scale..
I guess you have not changed the filter in the water tank either ???? :
:
:
While you reading and learning... Take the filter out and re charge it in salt water.... Use the search feature...
Do not mind me.. My wife spent all night vomiting all over me (no she was not drunk) and after I sent her off to work.. I came down with it and now I am a little tired..
Just go an spend the weekend searching the EM6910 posts and do some reading....

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Problem
Interesting.. e-bay is usually about 20% plus dearer, by the time postage is added..Originally posted by 584E49515D48555F040B3C0 link=1281064438/2#2 date=1281065184The seal i bought of eBay. I did contact sunbeam they told me to buy it from an appliance place in Ashfield, NSW.
Where did you find it ?Originally posted by 584E49515D48555F040B3C0 link=1281064438/3#3 date=1281067691Actually ive found a guide online... Looks like ive done it correctly
A: What basket are you using ?
B: What beans ?
C: What grinder ?
D: At what point does the group lock in; straight at you = 6 bit over to the right in 5
E: How old is it and is it Silver or Red
F: What is the sweet spot ? (Search CS and you will find it.)
G: When you tamp; how deep into the basket does teh tamp go ? and what sort is it ?
My guess is that your collar is stuffed... OR has been worn and you can no longer seal correctly. ( Over dosing/misuse/lack of cleaning/Lack of training/ great marketing but poor follow up) AND that ya machine is at least 12 to 18 months old if not older.
Quick and nasty - but will fix and no collar replacement needed but only if using the older units.
1: Do a search for Lug mod on teh EM6910... Uses a Dremel etc so think about ya key words in teh search.
2: Use a spacer - Coffee parts have them - See a post of mine a few days ago... Has a link to the spacer.
This way, so long as ya collar has not split OR the pipe work in the head has not cracked.. Your group will lock in closer to 4 or 5 but seal on a better surface and more of it.
PS.
If ya in the warranty period or it is a Cracked pipe in the head (manufacturers warranty) then get it covered off by Sunbeam.. Do go playing unless it is a last resort.
AM
PPS. And use the Advances search function... Saves many of us time as it has all been covered before
You not the first and nor will you be teh last :-?

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Problem
Hi! Thanks..
Yeah i will update my details now!!
The seal i bought of eBay. I did contact sunbeam they told me to buy it from an appliance place in Ashfield, NSW.
I havent seen any instruction about changing it. Im pretty technical minded and thought it looked straight forward, so i just removed the shower cap and the seal and swapped it over. It seemed to fit perfectly.
Would you have a link to online instructions?

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Problem
Welcome to Coffee Snobs.
Please update your profile with your location; you never know who might be close by to help with a problem.
If youve changed the seal that should have fixed it.
Did Sunbeam give you a set of instructions of how to change the seal?
Have you changed one before?

Sunbeam EM6910 Problem
Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help. My Sunbeam em6910 has lately not been sealing properly when i pull a shot.
It has been happening for a few months now, i replaced the rubber seal becuase i noticed it was cracked, but its still doing the same thing.
Every shot i pour it spits out the spout but it also runs over the top of the filter basket, past the rubber seal and drips down the outside of the group handle.
anybody else had a similar problem... ?
