If you only have the option of on or off then your technique has to cope with that.
Just imagine if the accelaerator on a motor vehicle worked that way.

Machines are intended to serve man - not the other way around.

Thats how I drive automatics ;D

I think you would want to be able to turn on your steam wand progressively rather than have it at 100% right from the start, allows for more control and less milk all over the bench :-[

Easy to know if you had the steam tap fully open after that.

Personally, I find it very annoying, and thats why were working with a few people to see if we can come up with a solution.
Sounds interesting. Are you looking for a solution that will allow a retrofit for previously purchased machines or only future sales?

I was hoping to get a nibble. Looking for a retrofit as well, so pm, email or call if you may be able to help.

Oh dear! seems I need to proof read not only my posts but also my thread titles! What an unfortunate typo!Looks like one of the mods has taken care of it though thanks. The you tube link is below:

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj_5Drl-ctc

To my eye that looks pretty average.

Is this a typical flow rate for the lelit drip? Or is this machine beyond he normal point at which you would seek some maintenance?
            Hi Pretzal,

The steam valve in that video is kaput and maintenance is required. Usual cause: overtightening. Usual fix: new steam tap (less than $10 for the part)

              Thanks Charlie,

Just the kind of information I was seeking from someone who knows what they are talking about. Thanks for the input.

We have a clever CSer onto this one and hope to have a better solution in the not too distant future.

Hmm. Ill preface this by saying I know what Im talking about, and am the Sponsor who made the Lelit available other than an over the net purchase.

Though rare, the wand can leak from day one.
It will leak some time in the future no matter how gentle you are.
Overtightening will speed up the process.
The part may well be under $10, though Im pretty sure labour will be more, and I dont know how many times you would like to incur this cost over the life of the machine.

Both Talk Coffee and Cuppacoffee are making every effort to work on a solution. We continue to regard the machine to be great value for money though would like anyone who buys the machine to do so with their eyes wide open. We have the same approach regarding anything we sell.

                  Cheers

Re: Steam wand leakage on Lelit

My machine is quite new and no leaking yet . Whilst this topic is still "alive" I might as well ask a silly question now. If it starts to drip in the future I assume this means the boiler will run dry and die. So if it starts to drip, but I religiously fill the boiler whenever it is switched on or used, by turning on the water button and opening the steam nozzle till water comes out, will this protect the boiler? And the machine will be OK as long as I keep the boiler filled? Can anyone reassure me?

My intention is not to scare monger mishky. Youve purchased a good machine. The wand would have to be dripping a lot before there is a risk of the boiler element being exposed.

If you follow the regime youve outlined, there is no reason why you should be concerned.

Re: Steam wand leakage on Lelit

Thanks Dennis. I didnt mean to sound "panicky", just wanting to confirm that this should not be a big problem if the machine is well cared for. For the record I am very happy with my Lelit as it has been producing some very good coffee and heaps of steam for the milk. (In fact I seldom buy coffee out anymore because my coffee is now better than most places near me produce). I am confident I would have to spend alot more to do better .

I know this is an old post but what is the fix for this? I acquired a lelit pl041 at a discount and now this dripping issue is showing up. When I turn the machine on it drips about .5-.75 ounce when warming up and then some more when pulling shots. It does make good espresso.

Is the $10 parts referred to in this thread the gasket replacement or some other part? I fix things and would like to replace whatever needs replacing.
                            Cheers...

Talk to the discounter you bought it from, they should be more than happy to assist, or dont they provide after sales service?
On the other hand if as you say you (fix things) I suggest you pull it apart and fix it, cant be all that complex.
Had you purchased from a CS sponsor help would only be a phone call away.

hey Jon thats a bit rough.... nice and welcoming for a new member ????

although yes its good to buy products from somewhere you can get after sales service many find this website after purchase and a issue appears

IDGE if you have not run away it seems the lelit might have a issue in the steam wand area depending on how you tighten it (and use it) a new washer might work but people do have other issues and have made some mods. do some CS serches and hopefully someone migth assist you a bit more.

i also reckon sponsors who sell them might be able to supply the parts or help with service.
