Is the $10 parts referred to in this thread the gasket replacement or some other part?
I was referring to the steam tap (the part that screws in and out to control the flow of steam).

Ill update the link with a picture when I get a chance.

Yes the Steam tap is what Im interested in. BTW, the "discounter" is a third party individual not some business entity.

JetBlack, do you have a photo of this part? Also Im in Washington State-US. Do you ship international? Costs?

Agreed it was a bit harsh Jon - the fluid measurement in ounces was a bit of a giveaway that buying the machine from a sponsor most likely wasnt an option - good luck IDGE, jetblack espresso or talk coffee might be able to help.

Bringing back an old thread but it was the best I could do with the search function.

I have a Lelit with said leaky steam wand.

I have the part with me, Im just wondering if someone can help me with the procedure to remove the knob off the old steam tap to fit it onto the new tap. It looks as though it would have a retainer clip, but I cant access the part of the shaft that it would clip into. Also tried a direct pull (no twist as the flat side would stop that).

          Cheers,
          Justin

The only way I could get the knob off mine was to actually screw the old one in half way, get my finger in between the black knob and the chassis, and pull hard...and I mean HARD.

Does it have a grub screw holding it onto the shaft? Look for a small hole in the side of the knob, the grub screws usually need an allen key.

              Cheers

Re: Steam wand leakage on Lelit

No grub screw on any of these to my knowledge, just a brass shaft with a flat side. Unless yours is evil and glued or loctited in, a bit of unscrewing then a pull combined with a gentle sideways wiggle should dislodge it.

Resist the temptation to prize it off with a screwdriver, chances are youll just scratch the steel or break the plastic...

Also Im pretty sure you could never run the boiler dry with a dripping steam wand (unless the steam switch is on!), as the exit for the steam valve is level with the top of the element. In this case gravity is your friend.

Re: Steam wand leakage on Lelit

Thanks, I contacted the company that I purchased it from and he suggested gentle levering with the shaft of a screwdriver, with a caution to take it easy and work it slowly. I will put it in a vice instead of leaving it in the machine.

Just as added assurance the boiler also has a thermo switch to help save the element in the event of the boiler being dry. I know this because my wife left the steam on when she left for the day. Came home to a cold machine. The dealer said that if it happened more than twice it would irreparably damage the element.

I hate to bring up this old chestnut again but has there been any progress. I dont want to touch mine while it is still under warranty.

We have a clever CSer onto this one and hope to have a better solution in the not too distant future.

                      Fraid not gb,

It was consigned to the too hard expensive basket. Its easier to just replace the needle valve.

I am really hoping this is the quickfix that were all looking for.  Thanks for giving it a real think!

                            Hi all,

I hope that this thread is still alive, noticed that the last reply was on the 22nd of July last year. Anyway, I have bought a Lelit PL042EM last saturday and noticed that the steam wand is leaking some water every time I make espresso. I thought the newer version of Lelit has fixed all this problem. Now, the drip is not too bad, perhaps average between 5-8 drips everytime I make coffee. The lady from the store assured me that it is a normal thing, happens to every coffee machine and I should not be alarmed but I thought I ask you guys anyways. Is this something that starts leaking little by little and gets worse later on?

PS I don't think i have over tightened the knob.

                            Thanks.
