first you need to ensure that the machine is designed to run without mains pressure

to do this all you need to do is run machine, on mains pressure, let hot water out of hot water nozzle until fill cycle starts
listen for the pump to start

nnot all rancilios (or other machines)are set up for the pump to run for refilling the boiler

you need to adjust the pump relief pressure to compensat for low pressure being supplied to the machine

also fit a non return valve to the machine hose to stop water running back to the tank

    Hi,

It will draw from a tank so long as the pump is primed and the tank is not to much lower. Possible problem may be the relief valve on the pump (not the 3 way brew valve) is set to low to deliver 9 bar to the head to allow for the mains pressure in (easy fix). The important thing is that the pump not be run dry at any stage!!!

If it is being fed decent prefiltered water then just a mesh screen filter is a good idea to keep any stray floaties out of the machine and you will need a waste tank and I find a seperate slops bucket a good idea.

There is a couple of threads around discussing cart operations too.

    Using a Rancilio S27 outdoors

I have a spare Rancilio S27 (plumbed in version) which some one wants to borrow and use for an out door festival.  Never having done such a thing before - how do you supply water pressure to the pump?
