So how do I get a standard shot if I am not Paul Bassett or dont share his taste??? :-/
Pull the shot for 20 seconds instead of 30.

You could even miss the first and last 5 seconds worth.

Both of these "techniques" will change the flavour profile of your shot.

or you could tip out some of the espresso or use more milk

Confused noob, researching first machine including EM6910.  I was taught that (on commercial machines) youd want 7g of coffee as a single shot. So why does everyone talk about 10g or more for the EM6910??
      :-?

Dont get too caught up on the numbers.

Every machine is different and every basket is different.

The question you want to be asking yourself is "Do I like how this tastes?"

It looks like you havent purchased a machine yet, maybe PM a local CS with a machine and taste the coffee to see if you like it before you buy one. Most CS are quite happy to share in this way

I wouldnt get too caught up with a "standard shot", I dont really think it exists.
        Theyre basically just starting guidelines.
Play around with settings and determine what you believe tastes the best,

Just remember DOSE and Shot time are different but related (Dont forget Grind).

I can only recommend one thing...

          A: Updosing is Fine

          B: QVERDOSING, IS, NOT !

The trick is the recognise and understand teh difference.
