  • Silvia servicing in Brisbane

Does anyone know where I can get my Silvia serviced in Brisbane (and then it will go onto the for sale section)?

Ive tried to contact Barazi (now just called Bezerra?) numerous times in the past month by email and phone and have not heard back... are they back in business after the floods? Anyone know?

Is there anywhere else I can go for Silvia servicing?

    Re: Silvia servicing in Brisbane

    Hi,

not sure about Silvia spcialists, but if you are getting no joy from any of the site sponsors, have you tried a generic Espresso servicing company?

Not sure where you stay, (oops just noticed its Indooroopilly), but I stay in the Redlands and and get my Giotto serviced by a small company in Capalaba. They seem to do a reasonable job, my only gripe being, they take a while. Mine was with them for 2 weeks recently, because it goes in the queue etc, and suspect coffee businesses might get priority over home machines. I resorted to buying a Syphon to use in the meantime.  They charge an upfront deposit of $77, for the check, and then of course you pay time and materials on anything they need to do.

I have heard of a company on the Northside, I think you sometimes see their small vans going about, servicing cafes and things.

I will not name them here as they are not Sponsors, but PM me for more details if you wish.

        Hi Ben,

Site sponsor Supreme Roasters and the other QLD based sponsors should be able to assist.

Coffee Machine Solutions - South East Queensland do servicing and warranty for that item but I have nothing good to report.

So while they may be closer... Enough said "Caveat emptor".

            Re: Silvia servicing in Brisbane

Thanks for the suggestions (and warnings!)

            On further thought, given that
            a) the 4 year old machine is working 100% as it should (group seal replaced 6 months ago)
            b) Ive not long replaced the steam arm with the v3 version (also 6 months)
            c) I regularly rinse/backflush with water/solution
            d) I descale about once every 6 months
            e) I used filtered water (alas only Brita jug...)

I might just sell it as is rather than spend the $80-100 on a service it might not need.

I was going to add the cost of service to my lowest price to sell the Silvia, so without the cost of service, someone might be able to pick up a bargain.

I guess my final questions are:
            - does a 4 year old routinely need a service?
            - should I sell the machine as is?

            Thanks again.

A: I would sell it as is and advise the Buyer of all of teh above.

Depending on their $ and their skill sets etc a service; may or may not be in the short term plans..

B: However, having done what your doing, one might ask what else could be done in a service ?

Steam valve o-rings ? Descale (does it even need one) ?

Thus I reckon go with A. Just so long as the new owner is fully aware.

Note: Seen plenty advertised as "recently serviced and working", but a quick inspection clearly indicates otherwise !!!

                Thanks AM.

I will go with selling as is then...

Will advertise it in the appropriate section and copy and paste info across.

Did think that advertising recently serviced and working sounds good in an ad! I find it hard to imagine that around here people would say that and be lying... anyway, Ill save the new owner $80+ and not get to put that phrase in.

Ill actually have to take some time out from work to drop into Barazi one of these days soon. My second hand lucy is in some need of new burrs and some TLC. Its an older model that hadnt had too much up keep (the grinder was putrid before I gave it a once over)! Has anyone had any experience with these guys doing service/repairs on Rancilio equipment?

                    Cheers,

                    Steve

Jack had a good level of experience but no first hand experience of recent. However I am sure that can give you a reasonable appraisal and have a chat and understand what you asking for Vs what you might be expecting...

Barazi Bezzera Coffee Machines are a good crew, but that dot mean that an extensive makeover will be cheep or worth doing ?

It comes down to teh condition of your machine to start with. Parts are one cost and then there is teh time involved.

Let us know how you go.

PM KK as he has much more dealings with them and you may meet teh requirements for a CS discount May not be great but every $ counts.
