Re: Breville Dual Boiler
It is not often I come in and moderate stuff so heavily as I have had to do today. In fact, I have never had to do it on Coffeesnobs in my history of being a mod and Ive had the privilege of being one for a few years now.
It is extremely disappointing and I cant express my dismay enough.
There are some honest people here asking honest questions and I would like to leave it at that, so this thread is hereby locked until I have a discussion with Andy as to what direction we should allow any discussion on this machine take.
It really makes my heart heavy to have to do this and I dont do it lightly or without due consideration. I prefer to see our community here remain friendly and helpful as has always been Andys aim.
Sincerely,
Scoota

When will this tamper be available? Are there any pics of such a tamper yet?

Re: Breville Dual Boiler
A small update to this thread.
For those who like the idea of the on board tamper, but want somehting a little better, Gavin (Bogav) has calculated that a machined acetal tamper with a magnetic top will work, fit and be retained by the existing magnet.
It will deliver a perfect base and will have better ergonomics as well.

Re: Breville Dual Boiler
Cuppacoffee, E61 Espresso and Talk Coffee all sell the machine and members know it.
Just thought it might be more fair to put that missing link back in

Re: Breville Dual Boiler
Yes, its easy to remove the carbon/resin filter from the tank & use whatever water you choose. Regarding double filtration being a bit too much, let your taste buds be your guide! I have an Everpure 0.5micron under bench system & still use the tank filter & it tastes the same. For those of you in SA or WA or other hard water areas I suggest you do the same or change your filters more frequently to maintain your equipment & more importantly, cup quality!Originally posted by 7C737469757E1B0 link=1306475432/106#106 date=1308277933My question which I dont think was answered by anyone from Breville or anyone that has used the machine is that are you able to not use the inbuilt charcoal filter if you already have suitable filtered water? I assume using both may be a bit too much?
Cheers, Phil

Re: Breville Dual Boiler
I have a fairly small kitchen but because its on wheels its going to stay in the corner next to the sink and wheel it out a bit more when in use.
I plan to use the cup warmer to store 2 x piccolo, 2 x 160ml glasses, 2 x 220ml cups or glasses, and 2 x espresso cups, I was going to get duralex glasses but I dont want them to shatter, so Im considering rockingham cups and alternate glasses. any ideas?
I think the machine looks good, it should look good with the polished K3 touch to the side and the smart grinder next to that, I hope to get a new tamper for the machine, a pullman nexus.
My question which I dont think was answered by anyone from Breville or anyone that has used the machine is that are you able to not use the inbuilt charcoal filter if you already have suitable filtered water? I assume using both may be a bit too much?
