Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
I agree with all your pros and its why I got a combi in the firstplace, but ultimately I was thinking of upgrading and you need to replace both items. ie it would have been silly getting a better grinder for the combi. Where as with 2 seperates I could have upgraded the grinder and down the track upgraded the machine if I wanted.
Horses for courses really.
Best part is they all make a yummy drink!!
Cheers

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
same thing I do. but only pour the ones I need for the shots im making. you can even see this is the idea, with the BES860 tiny hopper designed to just pour when needed)
With that in mind. why would a combi be any different to a standalone grinder?
preparing a shot with a standalone lelit+nemox lux or a lelit combi would be exactly the same (as the grinders are the same)
Even if it makes the machine larger, itll still be smaller on the counter compared to two separate machines with space inbetween.
so, for home use.
Combis have more benefit and not many cons I can think of .
Smaller footprint
Cheaper than separate machines
same quality as separate machines (of the same grade)
cons would be the fact that if something breaks, the whole machine needs to go for service, but then again, for home use, who has a backup grinder just in case (hardcore snobs, please dont answer)
Have I convinced you yet Chris? :-)

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
I would not leave any beans in the hopper, they go stale pretty quick. I just pour however many beans I need for the day into the hopper (roughly) and find I get a much fresher tasting coffee.

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
by the way. with the intelligent grinder, do you just leave the beans in the hopper? are they sealed?
I never understood, for me, for home use I do 2 to 4 coofees a day, the beans will go bad before I use them, unless i keep them completely sealed.
PS: sorry for getting a little offtopic.

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
Sure do....And I still recommend the PL041 and a Breville in preference for the exact reasons I posted. If a potential buyer prefers a combi instead, thats fine. At least they have my views.Originally posted by 01283A292C232324284D0 link=1309865502/56#56 date=1312964443But you still sell the Lelit Combi, right? :-?Originally posted by 42777A7D49557970707373160 link=1309865502/55#55 date=1312957752Sorry, but it doesnt cut it with me.

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
I think both setups have their pros and cons, I have had the Nemox with built in grinder for a few years and love it for its portability and small footprint.
The 900 is quite large by itself, probably similar in size to the combi, so building a grinder into it would make it a huge package, losing one of the main benefits of a machine like the combi.
Keen to hear on the feedback from the new 900 owners, looks like a great machine for the $$.
Cheers

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
I think this is the idea of BES 900 to change the idea that coffee is only made in Italian machinesOriginally posted by 3C282E2E34383F283939353C5D0 link=1309865502/59#59 date=1312976571any hardcore snob, will probably stick with italian brands.
the BES 900 offers so much more without the badge and without the price tag
It is designed for the snob with features like programable pre infusion and 2 PIDs which italian machine machine gets close?

Re: Why shouldnt I buy the BES 900
correct. and I think Chris is right.
However, i dont think itd be such a bad idea. weve seen in the lelits and rebrands that you can easily put a decent enough grinder in and make a combi machine.
If you think about it. any breville coffee machine will still be bang for the buck and convenience, any hardcore snob, will probably stick with italian brands.
for me, give me a combi anytime.

I think Chriss comment is aimed at buyers in the higher price range of the Breville:Originally posted by 0B2230232629292E22470 link=1309865502/56#56 date=1312964443But you still sell the Lelit Combi, right? :-?Originally posted by 42777A7D49557970707373160 link=1309865502/55#55 date=1312957752Sorry, but it doesnt cut it with me.
Originally posted by 13262B2C18042821212222470 link=1309865502/53#53 date=1312954302...I think the BES900 is at a whole new level and that buyers in this price bracket expect separate components.
