You probably have to add State and City sales tax to that
State tax is not applicable if the item is shipped out of the US.
But being American, They probably dont allow shipping outta the CONUS  :
    Of course they do.

I thought we were comparing what an American would pay with what we would pay. I wasnt thinking of what it would cost ordering from the US

        Good morning fellow Snobs.
I need some help if possible with my shiny BDB. I purchased it about 3 weeks ago, and Ive been making tasty coffee since then, however Im working on refining my technique and theres a few things Im having trouble with. ANY advice is most welcome!!

I am using DiBella Serafini blend beans, roasted about 10 days ago. I am in Yeppoon CQ and have to mail order my coffee as there are no local roasters. Also high humidity atm. I have a DeLonghi grinder (that refuses to die, and Im not allowed a new smart grinder until it does - no sabotage allowed).

My coffee making procedure is as follows:
        -Pre-heat portafilter and basket, purge/rinse.
-Dose basket and insert. (nearly breaking dodgy shoulder tamping)
        -Start steaming milk.
-Hit manual for extraction (settings: 93 deg, 10 sec pre inf.)
        -Finish milk.

Problem: 19-21 sec extraction, max pressure reached is 7 bar, and I havent gotten to there this week :-/, with good, but not great crema.

Coffee is tasting good, and have had no complaints and many compliments from my not as snobby friends, but hubby and I can still taste that something is iffy. Ive tried adjusting grind and if its finer, its quite bitter. Coarser and it speeds the extraction up.

The coffee is, as I say, yum, but I think it could be better!!

Please help with any tips or hints! Im at a bit of a loss!

        Thanks in advance,
        Amber.

I think you need to reconsider the sabotage option.

Your grinder is not suitable for real espresso and nothing you do is going to help too much. Smart grinder (or better still a Compak K3P) will allow for a slower pour and better espresso.

            HELP REQUIRED
With my 1 day old BDB.
I am using pre ground coffee Lavazza and all so Victoria both recomended on packaging for espresso machines,
Problem: 17-20 sec extraction, max pressure reached is 7 bar, if I use the double shot dual wall filter basket the extracted creama coming out of the portafilter bubbles splaters and spits all over the machine and bench top , if I use the double shot single wall filter basket I get very little creama I have had many years experiance making coffee in other machines with out this problem using the same preground coffee
All the machine setting are on Default

You really need to grind your own beans to use with this machine, pre-ground beans are nowhere near fine enough, nor fresh.

Try varying your dose and tamp with the dual wall filter, might be able to stop it from splashing at least

                +1

Youll never get a good consistent result with pre-ground coffee. Your experience should tell you that.

+2, you really do need a decent grinder to get results.
Not just any grinder, do some research.

Hi all, Im not sure if I should start another thread for this but this is a BES900 specific question. I used up the second of the included coffee machine cleaning tablets today. When I went to buy some more at the site shown in the packaging (www.cinocleano.com.au) the price was $19.95 for eight tablets.

I think for that price I think they supplier should use them as a rectal cleaner.

What other products will do the same job?

I use Bombora Clean Machine powder. 100g came free with my machine in the Cuppacoffee deal.

                          Barry.

I got some of that too - using it as part of the periodic backflush Phil described. Still using the tablet though when the machine says to clean it. I have some Bombora tablets (about $25 for 25) for that too when Ive used all the Breville supplied ones.
