  • I found that this morning

Also whats the hatch on the top of the coffee machine? Is that there the water goes or do you fill it from the back of the coffee machine?

I dont read manuals too often lol

    • the hatch on the top of the machine is to fill the tank. You can remove the tank and fill too but this is easier

      • Thirteen13,
My machine is doing exactly what you've described, it started it last week.
Gets upto pressure after 30 seconds.
It's like the its stuck on the pre-infusion flowrate.
Mine's currently at a service centre, so will let you know when i get it back...

        • Thirteen - try turning it off for 20 mins; Press and hold 1 and 2 cup buttons and then turn it on. Display will show Rest or something like that - it's a master reset. It cured a similar problem for me.

Yep sounds exactly the same as mine. It still makes coffee, but with the blind basket in, takes ages to even get to 1 bar on the guage then kind of creeps up a bit quicker at about 3 bar the blind basket is full of water and then goes upto 10.5. It sounds a bit sick when the backflush water comes out tho. Like the pressure is a bit weak.

Did this. Also left it off overnight. Still does it

basically Ran fine for 1 coffee, then i went to clean water it and started doing it. Thought maybe ecu setting being weird. So powered down, back up. hold in 2 cups, same thing.

Did few other things, like used double wall basket, still low pressure. Caffetto'd it and still doing it. Took it into Service centre today, will take a week to get it back but i explained the issue and mentioned seems like the pump is blocked or slowed and he said sounds like exactly that. Im using normal tap water, which i shouldnt be. The guy in the service place is Breville specialist and he said he's worked on heaps of the BDB and he said the issue is common and mostly cause Perth has really crap scaley water.

So i made mention that if its blocked or scalled will warranty still cover it as i do all the routine maintence as per Manual and Breville advice and he said Yes.
So might get a free descale and pipe clean out!

I mentioned to the bloke it still shot coffee and he said thats good thing then, mostly points to blocked pipe works. They where pretty friendly in there.

Swell. I should really get a Bombora On tap filter. I change in tank filter every 2 months as per guide. I should prob do it more, but thats wat the book says and if warranty covers it then ill stick with that.
On side note, not all is lost, pulled out the $80 Cafe Roma. haha Surprisingly with a SG and decent fresh beans, it definately makes a drinkable coffee, so im not so upset about the big machine being gone.

            • I'm using tap water too. I change the filter every time I get the 'wash me' message which is pretty much every month.

Single wall for beans freshly ground. Double for pre ground beans

                  • Dual walls are for use with old stale pre ground supermarket coffee. It will give a some fake crema.

Single walls are for freshly roasted coffee (from a few days up to about 3 weeks after roasting) and freshly ground, preferably on demand, just before use.

Read page 23 of the instruction booklet.

I hope you got some good fresh beans to go with your new machine.

                    Have fun.

You don't have to roast your own. Find a local bean roaster- heaps around. The difference is astounding. Many cafes have a fresh bean service. I pay about $27 a kilo from my local roaster

                              • neofelis,

Do your Lavazza beans have date when roasted on them or just a use by date? I understand some supermarket coffee roasters put on a date 24 months post roast.
They can be far too old to be fresh.

The supermarkets require a date on all food and drink by when we won’t be poisoned, so they know when to take it off the shelf.

If you buy roasted beans from Andy here on BeanBay, he posts them a day after roasting.
