  • It doesn't get much better than that Barry.

Phil, thank you once again for going out of your way to help me out. Despite the issues the machine is still making a great coffee.

    • After today's backflush session with a little Cafetto mine was starting to slip.. i wonder if it has something to do with getting cafetto on the plastic as at the end of the cleaning cycles I undid the filter handle a few times to flush grinds from around the outside of the group.

I'll keep an eye on it and use sandpaper if necessary... Machine is less than 2 months old, approx 2-3 coffee's a day, sometimes double that.

      • I visited the Aroma Festival at the Rocks in Sydney this morning. Big crowds there from 10 and were building up by 11.30 when I left.

Phil McKnight made me a very good macchiato on the Breville Dual Boiler. I had two other breeds of coffee. One I had to wash the flavour out of my mouth with water. The other I poured out after a taste.

I saw the new coloured machines on the Breville stand. They look good but don’t make any better coffee than our old silver ones. They expect the new colours will be available about September.

        • I went in for a look around the Aroma Festival as well, the BDB's on the Breville stand were all going non stop pumping out coffee after coffee. Certainly a torture test for the machines, wonder what the shot counters will say by the end of the day? Also managed a quick g'day and coffee from Phil.

          • Hey guys!

I've been using my machine for about 2 weeks now and I love it however, im having issues with stuck pucks / coffee cakes getting stuck to the shower head.
It's doing my head in and I really want a resolution to the problem!

Can someone please tell me how I can fix this - weather they can direct me to new filters or something else which can fix this.

            Thanks.

            • I don't know what causes stuck pucks. Maybe over dosing. When it happens, I don't replace the portafilter but use it to hook out the puck and usually it falls into the filter.

              • For me its overdosing that causes this.

                • If the puk sticks hold portafilter under but not attached press manual for second and it will drop.

                  • I picked up my repaired BDB this morning and it is working well.

Len, at the Breville Factory Outlet in Ultimo, fixed the low flow problem in less than a day. It was a perished O ring as he first thought. He also adjusted the over pressure valve down from 12 to 9½. All for free. So it now runs better than new'

I recommend that anyone with a faulty machine, if within cooee of Sydney CBD, give Len a ring on 96608217. He keeps some spares in his tool kit and has easy access to Breville HQ for other parts.

It is easy to use the loading dock to the north of the shop.

There is another Breville Factory Outlet at Redfern and three in Victoria. As well as coffee machines they have plenty of other household goodies.

                    Barry.

Im in Perth so Len is a bit out of the way for me. I noticed with my machine it was from factory stopping at 10.5Bar. Ive now noticed its been put down to 9.5Bar and coffee's now always run without fail(unless i choke machine) at 9 Bar.

I get stuck puck too. Its been mentioned this is pretty common on this machine and i usually hold the PF directly below the puck and hit any of the 3 buttons for 1/2 a second as soon as any of the water from the screen hits the puck it drops. So falls into the basket.
Its not really a problem, i assume its mostly to do with the tight gap between the clamped coffee grinds in the basket. Perhaps less dose and a heavier tamp ?
Ive noticed thought when the grinds are getting forced down in the basket via locking the PF in it usually results in a stuck puck, however the texture of the shot is usually very oily and nice looking

                      • I have only had one stuck puck since I started using the double all the time. It's the shape of the single that causes this to happen.

I strongly agree, i think under dosing may cause it to suck to the screen also. It's a fine line...

                          • I use the single most of the time and it very rarely sticks
