  • How long does it take to you to texture and heat to 60 degrees 300ml of milk in the 600ml jug? I am feeling the frothing process a bit slow compared to when I started playing with the machine a few weeks ago. Now I manage to achieve the desired volume before the milk reaches 30, and then it takes a while to warm it up. I don't think the boiler has lost power, but one never knows.

      Thanks in advance.
Ridgeless and I got mine from Pullman - a site sponsor - they are on special at the moment too.

I don't remember - but I used to texture until the jug got hot and then buried the wand to warm it the rest of the way.

        • Has anyone changed the dual spout on the porta filter to a single ? Do other spouts fit?

          • Why would you need to do that?

I only ever pour into one cup through my dual baskets and sometimes the espresso cups (I use Rockingham and Terra Keramic) are a bit small for the dual spout

                • By the look of the design, is it just screwed on ? If so just unscrew it and when you run a shot hold the cup right under the hole, surely that would work the same wouldnt it... Does the journals add something to the coffee besides guiding the fluid ?

                  • Not sure if there is any effect on the pour without a spout on a standard PF, I have a bottomless PF that I use sometimes but it needs to be dosed spot on to get a great coffee with out a lot of mess/spurting all over the place. I just thought a single spout would be something different.

Well today I have had a machine failure, no water from the group head.

Pump can be heard but a bit quite

Water flows from the hot water tap ok and the pump sounds normal

I will be calling breville in the morning. I think this is karma, I bet it's one of those O'rings that Nik bangs on about

                      • Guys Need Some Help.
My machine beens travelling along as good as gold. Until tonight.
It does the pre infusion then nothing at all.
I tested this by just not having the portafiller on on i get the small surge of water then nothing and no pressure at all.
Was running great always around perfect bar the opv was sorted earlier.
Any ideas before i take it to the service centre ?
I have reset the machine too i had it operating at 1 degree higher than the standard set up.
if i turn the dial i still get hot water perfect for the girls chai latte.
Just no pressure. I am in perth and have read we have harsh water.

Wow... The last few posts has been about the BDB failing. Did breville time the failures??? Anyone else having issues? Makes me feel like the machine I just bought for 1month is really a little flimsy... :S

                          • Heh, probably just unfortunate co-incidence, especially since mine was bought in NZ. What is interesting is that the above three issues could all be the same fault appearing in a time-progressive manner.
For interest, mine is S/N 1208-004490-AU/NZ
My main concern at the moment is that no doubt rather fewer are sold here than in Australia and so the repair person my not have much experience with the machine, plug it in and say, well water's running through it must be ok!

Mine is 13 months old one of the first of the ship, waiting for tech to call me back

I think it was deliberately timed for farther's day

It is a father's day curse, of course! My DBD let a droplet of water to fall over a beautiful crema this morning. Extraction was probably a bit to intense at 10.5bar. Or maybe the portafilter might be bit loose.
