    Hi there,

Just wondering if there was any more progress on the naked portafilter for the BES 900.

      Hi all,

Could anyone confirm whether the  VST 18g baskets will fit the Breville DB

Went straight to my VST 18g basket. Had to play with dose for a while but think I have it now. Am getting amazing shots now - have managed to pull three absolutely heavenly shots.

I seem to recall squeezing a 22gm VST into the stock handle but only have the 18s left.

Yes, refurbs at around the 1k mark.

Seen several companies with the machines for $12-- something.

I am thinking that with the release being so well timed for xmas there will be no drop in price until next year if at all, I mean, they are already providing a db for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy less than any others they could keep the price firm for years!

At that price, as long as its Breville refurbed and coming with the full warranty I would be very very happy.

I mean... its meant to be a category killer at $1500. At $1000... oh the carnage!

I squeezed my 22g VST in there as well as a 18g Synesso but I dont think there is enough space between the bottom of the basket and portafilter?.. a 5c placed between them will move slightly around, I can still lock them into place but both my 18g and 22g VST make a slight grinding noise when locking them in.

I would love to use either of my triples on weekends, so I guess I should just go ahead and try one of them?

            Cheers!

ill tell you what i am hoping for...

the bcg800xl "smart grinder" is selling here for $200USD at major retail stores, not dodgy places.  I think it sells for close to $300AUD in oz, correct?  That makes me wonder if there will be "room" in the price of the BDB to keep it at or below $1000USD if/when its released here?  one can dream, right?

We need a Breville prices thread !

I thought this thread was for owners discussing the machine ?
Not for prospective or new owners discussing prices or bragging about kicking a salesman in the guts for a better price, anyone that puts a link up to a non sponsor shows poor form in my books.

So if you want to discuss prices start a new thread and knock yourselves out

thats my whinge for the day

youre right. i (especially) should not be talking about price, not only because i cant use the sponsors anyway, but because the prices i find wont apply here to most CS members anyway. apologies for the diversion from topic.

                    Darrens totally right!

This really was started by the OP as a thread for owners of this machine. I also think it is ok for people to ask owners questions about their machines in this thread but lets not take it too far off topic.

Just as a gentle reminder, there are two sponsors who are currently selling the Breville dual boiler and any reference to any other non sponsor will be removed.

                    Thanks all!

                      Hi

Im sorry too - I wasnt intending for the subject to divert to prices, I was simply trying to contact the Breville guy (Phil?) who may know whether or not one can trust a machine that is listed as "Manufacturer refurbished"

I agree that sponsers are a great source for cs buyers but if I can get a machine cheaper and closer to home (in WA) then I would rather do that - I am rural so no in store demo etc is going to be possible.

Back OT - buyers please continue to brag about how much you love your machines ;D

                        Hi Sarah

I understand your desire to purchase a machine from a source close to home. It makes sense.

I suggest to you that you go to the following link for your closest large appliance retailer, and see if they happen to have one or can get one in for you.

                        http://www.breville.com.au/ustorelocator/location/map

The difficulty you may face is that initial stocks to market have been very limited, the production line can only manufacture "x" units in a day, and with them soon to be released in the US, supplies are likely to continue to be very limited for a while longer.

Forget getting a refurbished one - its not going to happen in the forseeable future.

                        All the best
                        Den

I have to say that I think that sounds dodgy the first shipment contained only 257 units many of which are owned by CSs these have only been in the wild for just over a month, I have not heard of any being returned as yet, let alone for long enough to have been refurbished.

At least one CSer has returned one, but yeah, without confirmation from Breville, I agree it sounds dodgy.
