Hi guys... After I had so much fun for 11 months, my machine died this morning too. It was a bit flakey for a a few days, did a full clean and replaced the filter last night. Nothing is coming out this morning and no pressure at all. I will call Breville today but not sure what to expect, how long does this normally take etc. I am in Brisbane.

Sparky's at Albion. Mine was in for ~3wks, but I was away on holidays so I told them to take their time. I would expect at least 1-2 weeks. Ask them to adjust OPV and update your firmware (they said they do this as std anyway) while they do the o-rings->gasket fix.Originally posted by jabbba View Post?..... how long does this normally take etc. I am in Brisbane.

Breville Sucks
My BDB crapped out after 13 months of reliable use. It got into a mode where it was spilling water all over the place on start-up, and then it started going nuts whenever I took it out of standby. While in standby, it was making a gurgling noise, and when it tried to warm up after standby it would overheat, raising the temp on the display up to 208 F even though it was set to 200 F. The whole time it was trying to wake up, the lights would blink like they do when it's too cold to make coffee. The brew water would get super-hot, and the only way out was to unplug it for 30 seconds or so to reboot it.
I called Breville and they said they would send me a new machine until they looked at my proof of purchase. Then they played lawyer with me and said they didn't want to honor the warranty because I bought if from a division of an authorized seller and not the main division.
So I took it into an authorized repair center where they asked if it had a built-in grinder.
It's not over yet, but things are not looking good for Breville. Apparently they've decided that espresso machines are too hard so they better just focus on toasters and blenders. I hear some of the other Breville appliances are darn good, BTW.
Anyhow, Breville sucks, don't go there.Last edited by BubbaDude; 20 February 2013, 12:27 PM.

Breaking into the espresso machine market that has quite a few well recognized leaders (that do their job well) was never going to be an easy task.
I wonder if there will be a version two of the BES900? I suspect not.

Now you officially agree that Breville sucks!

Will we see a mark II BDB? Depends on how financial the existing BDB has been and what the Breville boffins believe.
It would give Breville a chance to shake out a few gremlins.
I expected that buying a new model machine could lead to problems. I have had troubles with a couple of cars that were the first of their model off the blocks and they kept me poor. Usually I have waited a while until the car makers ironed out their problems to my advantage.
So far the only problem with my BDB has been an O ring failure which took one day for Len at the Breville Ultimo Shop to fix. An advantage of living in Steak and Kidney (Sydney).
While we get a few problem machines sadly reported here, there could be at a rough guess, 15,000 BDB machines out there, most of which are behaving as they should.
Any bit of machinery, no matter how well it is designed and made, can break down. Look through this site and there are up market machines with problems. Also we get expensive mechanical failures with cars, aircraft, ocean liners and space craft to mention a few.
