  • Wonder where he stole them from?

Probable scam and nothing will be delivered. If anything does arrive, likely no tax invoice, no GST and definitely no warranty as he won't be authorised.

      • Yeah now that I see it's 0 feedback I am guessing he/she is selling them from the back of their car

            • Have had the machine back for 2 weeks now and is working fine.. fixed by Expresso fix. Hard to get much information out of them though, communication is very poor limited English!

              • An update on my 900.. Just got it back 4 weeks and 1 day.. Apparently the service guy thought it was the water tank seal which took the month time to get from Breville. He left it on his front counter overnight and came back next morning to very wet paperwork!! Not the seal, he had to replace the boiler, signs of rust. Not a good thing to hear after just 2 years. I was told a heap of things were replaced and thankfully at no charge. Thank you Breville. If Breville had offered a replacement machine and I would happily have paid a fair amount, I have had use of it for 2 years so I would have happily paid what 50% - 60% or more for a replacement. I would suggest we would have all been better off having cost them nothing rather than paying the service guy to replace everything. Sounds sensible to me??!! Now some advice please. I have made possibly 6 shots since getting it back and the crema is full of bubbles. Why?? Same coffee, (we wholesale coffee roasted by a really experienced small company, the owner has been in the business many years) so it is always the same. We wholesale water, so same bottled water..... Now what?? Perhaps the cost of the machine compared to other dual boilers sums up a lot. Time for some bubbles!!

                • Have you given it a clear water backflush or two?

                  • Hi graememcc,

Don't worry, this is normal after a descale or when boilers have been refilled. It will dissipate over time & the more water you run through it, the faster it will go.

                    Cheers,
                    Kat

                    • Thanks Kat. I suppose I have too much time in my life, there must be more pressing things I should be getting on with! Or is there anything more important than a good coffee!!!

                      • Hi, I have had the BES900 for a couple of years and it has been in for repairs twice. It now has low pressure, often keeps heating beyond the preset, it takes some time from pressing the shot button until it starts to pump, leaky steamer and groans a lot (a bit like the owner). It has not had a descale yet and I suppose that that may solve some of the issues. What I really need is the name of a reliable repairer in Brisbane that knows the Breville BES900 and it's quirks. Any suggestions??

                        Cheers

                        • Hi all,
First time poster long time drinker of take-away coffee. Quick question, recently purchased one of these machines (albeit the 920, but this thread is way more active) and have been making lattes that have come out pretty good using the single walled 1 cup basket. They have been a little milky though and I think my glasses may be a touch too big for a regular 30ml shot and milk. So... can I fill and tamp the 1 cup basket as I normally do but then use the 2 cup button to run 60ml through it in 30sec (plus pre-infusion) or should I only ever be doing this through the 2 cup basket with more coffee in it?

Loving the machine and feel like I'm already making coffee then most of the cafe coffee I buy!

                          • I would recommend not using the volumetric buttons and using the manual button to start and stop your shots... The one and two cup buttons have proven to be a bit inconsistent to many people on here... definitely use the double basket to get 60ml in 30secs or thereabouts plus pre infusion.... I find the double basket a lot easier to get consistent shots out of too and actually haven't used the single basket in well over a year... I I want a single shot I just have 2 of them! ha ha

I have used Mr Sparkey over at Oxley in the past and he seems to do all the machines.
Look them up on the net and give him a call.

Sounds a bit like my problem, (intermittently)

When I press a single shot, sometimes it stays on preinfusion for 30 or so sends and shot never comes out
After this 93 flashes on display
If I open up the water spout I get an irregular flow (splutters and dribbles)
If I turn the machine off then on the temperature is 98 or 99

I've had it at Mr Sparky's twice now for other issues and I mentioned this particular issue, but last time I got it back I thought it had gone away.
