Re: Breville BES900 Dual Boiler - Owners thread
Hey Toasty,
I dont mean to be a pain, but take a breath. Im sure it seems its dragging on, but the internet does a strange thing with time - were always on, so a short while might seem like a long time - always checking, always hearing what others are doing.
So from your experience, you called your service agent on the 4th, and dropped it off on the 5th. Called, and it wasnt done yet on the 7th, and decided that as you couldnt do without it over the second long weekend, youd drive an hour to pick it up. Did you have to do that? No.
So in all, the service centre had it 1 business day? Thats not a huge amount of time.
I understand that the hype, the build-up, the excitement of getting a brand new - state-of-the-art, Australian designed, forum informed machine. Then learning that something might be off. You want to get it fixed. Bad. Its happened to me with camera gear.
Im a photographer, and have had both Nikon & Canon gear. I work with my cameras, and invest a lot in them, so I can get paid. When one of my cameras needs repairing, Canon advises 2 weeks. I have to drop it off. It might be done sooner, but who knows? Two weeks. These are multi-thousand dollar cameras and lenses. Canon is a tad bigger than Breville. So yes, that is standard at service centres.
(Nikon Im an NPS member, so I get loan gear
- but I have more Canon stuff)
Teething problems are standard with new gear. You were privileged to own one of the first off the production line! However that means that you are also a mass-market tester. You purchased it knowing that Breville has a 2yr warranty, so they believe in their product. Thats more than I get on my $3500-$5000 cameras.
Im yet to buy one, (well, yet to get approval from DrWife) so Im reading all of these posts going "ummm should I?" but after meeting up with Den from cuppacoffee, seeing the machine in a domestic setting at his place, having a cuppa made with it, seeing milk textured. Im still in. When I get approval
If its faulty? Im hoping it wont be, but Ill get it sorted.
So, what Im trying to say is, I hope you get it fixed. But this time, take a breather. Let them keep it for more than a day, and I really hope they sort it out for you.
Cheers, Nathan.
PS - not trying to pick on you here - Ive been there!
