    Update:

Just went to check the o-rings in question and in doing so some of the spade connectors broke off where rusted. I might have a go at soldering them back but this is looking like it might be better off used for parts.

So I picked up one of these second hand at what I thought was a cheap enough price. It was advertised as having a leak which I suspected was just the steam wand ball valve.

Once I got it home and opened up I got a bit of a shock. I don't think it's the steam valve itself, just the top o-ring. But also the boilers middle probe o-ring. Looks like it's been leaking for quite some time and a lot of the internals have rusted. I'm told it works apart from the leak.

Does anyone know if the rust going to be an issue? It's mostly around the steam boiler, ie the bracket and even the electrical connectors. :-(

When in doubt, replace the pump.
I'm curious where you're getting the measurements of 13bar and 7 bar

I was debating upgrading my old BES900 to an Oscar II etc but the deal on the BES920 was to good to pass up! $679 local pickup!

    Hey Guys

i have a BES900 that is losing a significant amount of pressure in the brew boiler. pressure going in is 13 bar, coming out 7 bar. Replaced every O ring, no leaks, fully descaled and boiler looks shiny clean inside.
I really don't know why its dropping so much pressure, doing my head in.

    Any ideas?

Sent it in to the service agent to examine. Three weeks later to look at it , they found a split in the boiler and faulty solendoid and a few other things. Fix cost with labour was not that far off a new machine and i stll have an out of waranty machine
So after three units ( initial batch BES900, second BES900, then a BES920) i have finally given up on them. They are a good bang for buck but for me they are just too unreliable,I get no more than about 3 years out of them. Time to move to a diferent machine.
Have you checked out the Nuova Simonelli Musica? I think they are great value

Issued fixed itself, i think there must have been some water causing a short. It must have dried up after a day or two. Machine works fine now.

    Hey Guys

need your advice, i have repaired quite a few BES900's and 920's but i'm stuck with this one.

I replaced a faulty brew pump on this BES900 and then descaled the steam boiler which had quite a lot of scale built up.

The machine powers up fine, both pumps prime the boilers and both boilers heat up just fine.

When the machine gets close to 90 degrees, it trips the circuit breaker on my house which i haven't seen before.

i thought i may have blow a thermal fuse on one of the boilers but i can replicate the issue over and over.

Any ideas what could be causing this ?

just checked again, I do indeed hear a discernible click and then nothing happens, ill let it cool open it up completely and check all wiring incase something else has come off.
    Bugger.....
