You can get them in Sydney at the Ultimo and Redfern Breville outlets.

Bought a BES900 a few weeks ago, and absolutely loving the machine. Today however, after using it, I got a tiny electric shock when touching around the power button area, and also a few other places on the shell. I had accidentally spilled some water on some of the buttons whilst filling it earlier, however would have thought everything should be sealed and waterproof. Im going to call Breville next week about it, but just wondering if anybody else has had this problem?

              Hi Taser,

Id be switching it off and getting it to a service centre pronto. Best to be paranoid when you are playing with a 240V appliance, water and humans.

BES900 arrived just in time for the weekend, had our 3yr olds birthday on saturday and knocked out a few coffees for the family and friends without a hitch Every shot sitting around 9.5-10 on the gauge, pouring beautiful. Thanks Breville for introducing this to the range of domestic machines.P.S Love the auto timer turn on!

Another Canadian joining in. Have actually had the machine for a few weeks but finally getting around to working with it today. So, after reading this entire thread, I have to ask what the consensus is with respect to the plastic insert in the PF? Keep it or remove it?

Phil, could you weigh in on this?

I think the plastic insert is to keep the coffee hot in case the portafilter is not fully up to temp. The plastic will conduct much less heat than the metal of the PF. As long as you keep it clean, I think it is OK. I have left mine in and will get a naked PF when available.

Well it was the original thinking in the project that the plastic insert would perform two primary functions.

                      1. Limit temp loss in an espresso shot if the PF was not up to temp.
                      2. Diffuse the "spray" from the outlet of a dual wall filter

IMHO, I would encourage you to remove it. We are removing it from all future production.

It is an accumulator of residue that will affect the taste of your espresso. It is almost impossible to clean under after soaking a PF in Cafetto or similar product.

Remember a clean machine is you best chance at pulling shots with maxiumum sweetness.

                      Cheers, Phil

Tazer, can you give me a call about this ASAP. I recommend that you do not use the machine until we speak.

Heres hoping their username is not prophetic!

All jokes aside, do as Phil says. As others have mentioned, 240v, a whole lotta amps, and water are not a nice combination.
