  • Gaggia classic sparked and fizzed

    Hi,
hoping for some advice. My beloved Gaggia Classic died.
I flicked the switch and heard a faint fizz then a spark appeared behind the switch. I pulled the cord out ASAP.

Is this something that can be fixed or is it new machine time? Granted Im not the most technically minded of people, but I think I could replace a switch if i could find one locally (in Melbourne). But if this was symptomatic of a larger problem then maybe its time for the old G to go.

    thanks,
    M

    Could it be fused?

But Im no tech either, so not too sure what happened there

I think there is replacement part for the switch unit....

Because its electrical and it sparked, get it checked out by a service centre and ask them to let you know if its terminal or an easy repair. (Yes most of us may be able to replace a switch, but there may be other gremlins that can be, and need to be, found by qualified technical persons with the appropriate test instruments).
