  • help - BES900 lack of water through group head

    Hi guys,
Had our BES900 for a while and love it - in fact got one for the office as well!

Managed to run the machine dry (ran the water out) this morning and after a refill the volume of water coming through the group head is is about a third of what it should be.  This obviously means that shots cant be pulled (no pressure as not enough water coming through).  When pushing manual without anything in I can see that only about 1/3rd of the amount of water that should be flowing is.

Boiler is making all the right noises and the hot water and steamer are working at full whack.

Customer service hot line but its closed so if anyone has any tips or ideals let me know!!

(have tried restarts, resets and checked the water jug connection and filter)

    thanks in advance
    wes

Firstly, are you sure youre not just looking at the pre-infusion flow? Push and hold the 1-cup or 2-cup buttons, this overrides the pre-infusion and gives you full flow straight away. Also how does the water flow from the hot water tap look?

If that doesnt do anything, pull the group head out (just undo one screw, suitable allen key is provided in the tool drawer), clean all the bits and put it together again (make sure the shower screen is clean, gunk tends to build up behind there pretty fast). Test again by holding the 2-cup.

      Thx gnat,

No its definitely not the pre infusion. Cleaned the group head as you suggested. But no luck.
Water from hot water outlet is perfect.

Had to make a mercy dash to collect the machine from work to survive the long weekend.

Will call breville tomorrow and see what they say.

if you press and hold 1 cup or 2 cups button does it run straight out high pressure water bypassing the PF ?

If you put blind filter in and try the same what the does the guage get upto ?

          Wes,

Phone Breville if you havent already. I had the same problem (even happened the same weekend!) and the O Rings appear to need replacement. They should put you in touch with your nearest repairer.

          Good luck
