  • Keeping Miss Silvia shiny

    Hi peeps,

Was wondering what others have done to keep Miss Silvia looking as good as the day you bought her.

I had her for almost 12 months now and have given her a regular wipe down with soapy water and a buff with a tea towel and she looks OK, but I still find water and finger prints are hard to completely remove without some streaking.

Has anybody found a product or method that leaves the Silvia looking really clean?

Stainless steel polish when I can be bothered. Other than that I just wipe off any mess (coffee grounds/splashed milk)

Try some stainless steel wipes available at most supermarkets. Last bought a packet at Coles, pretty cheap 3 or $4 for a pack of 20. Great for removing fingerprints and stains. Work a treat! Your Silvia will look better than new!

Thanks for the tip. Will keep an eye out for them at the supermarket.

Just don't be tempted to use anything like Braso or Silvo - they will smooth out the brushed look and you will have a shiny spot.

I use 3M Stainless Steel cleaner, available from BBQ/Outdoor type stores.

Microfibre cloth and some steam from the wand. Sometimes a little glass cleaner.

Hate the smell of WD40 and I'd never use it in the vicinity of a machine.

Haha I don't mind the smell of it..and it actually cleans my machine up really nice. Each to their own though

I have always managed a decent clean with a bit of window cleaner.

Yes - I found the stainless wipes were pretty useless but 'Spray and Wipe' works a treat.
