  • Breville Dual Boiler being marketed as 'Sage' by Heston Blumenthal in UK

Interesting to see on the Bella Barista UK site that they're now selling the Breville Dual Boiler under the brand name 'Sage' by Heston Blumenthal.

Presumably Sage as in wise, rather than the herb?

The Smart Grinder also being sold under the same name.

Also interesting to see the price. Just proves the adage "spend a dollar in Oz, spend a pound in the UK"!

    Sniff

Smart marketing by Breville, on the Sage website the only mention of Breville is as BRG.

$1700 odd and it will sell due to who recommends them, as I said smart marketing.

From the model number (BES920UK), it looks like the 920 has arrived!

Not in the least surprised Breville are marketing under a different name given the poor reputation they have acquired for both quality and customer service.
Wonder if they will do the same in Australia?

Looks like $1700 is the going rate for the 920 here and in the UK.

I'm surprised by the price increase then - although as I recall the BES900 started at $1500 and then dropped fairly quickly.

I had a play at one today in London (john lewis on oxford st). I've been here for about 6 months now and keen to in get back into coffee.

The 920 works pretty well. Looks exactly the same as the 900, except there's a descaling port at the front of the machine.

I thought the price was a bit steep in comparison with Aus; 1200GBP for the BES920 and 200GBP for the Smart Grinder.

On sale in Australia today for $1019.00 - Sage by Heston Blumenthal BES870UK Barista Express Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine - FREE UK Delivery

My Sunbeam has finally flaked after years of satisfying coffee, some may be narky at me saying that, but not all are rich enough to buy 2k to 3k machines, I wish I was able to, but alas, the $1019.00 is stretching my wife's patience.

And it's on sale with-in Australia for $699. No need to have it shipped from the other side of the planet and pay half again as much.

Uuuummmm.....Have you tried putting BES870 into a search engine? I see 3 different sources in the first 15 returns.

Hahaha yep. Failure of reading comprehension on my behalf methinks sorry Java. The title of the thread is dual boiler hence me searching for bes920. I now see the link posted above is the the bes870. I thought you had found the dual boiler for $699!!

The BES920 was known for failing when descaling. This was rectified I believe by fitting a valve of some kind and the machines which have been fixed are the BEP920. So that's the one to buy.

Looked deep for that half price that was mentioned in Aus, but alas couldn't find it and ordered from over the other side of the world. Pity someone didn't put the URL he found that half price in Aus.
