  • Hello

I've had a bes920 with smart grinder for just over 3.5 years

I have used the same coffee beans with the same settings
on the grinder for at least two years without a problem

About 2 weeks ago the puck started sticking to the group
head after back-flushing...then about 1 week ago the
puck started sticking to the group head after shot extraction

Only way (that I know)to get the puck out is to turn machine
off and after a while the puck drops out (can be up to 15 -20 minutes)

Very annoying if you want to make 2-3 cups of coffee at a time

Any suggestions for me to try would be appreciated

    • As a short cut you can put the portafilter up around the puck and push the puck sideways a bit and it should fall off.

What sticking to the shower screen typically means it's that the shower screen needs to be removed from the machine and cleaned. Soak it in boiling water with Cafetto powder and then give it a bit of a scrub with a group head brush or an old toothbrush. Rinse very well and reinstall.

thanks...took the shower screen off and the black plastic (or rubber) thing
that the shower screen sits on has a big split in it

Can you please tell me the name and size of this black thing and I'll order a replacement

          • Barathea: That is your group head seal or gasket, not allowed to link as it will prob be a non sponsor website. But search evilbay for "bes920 group seal" and I found heaps of results.

Make sure you you remove any bits of the seal which are stuck to the group. I use the blunt end wooden chopstick to scrape any bits as it doesn't scratch the metal.

            • If it’s the black plastic directly under the screen and screw, then it’s the screen inner. If it goes around and is like Le a big ring then it is a group head seal.

                  Some places called it "diffuser".

                    • The Breville Australia website has hardly any parts on it, neither of these parts are on it so it would have to be a third party link. You might be able to call Breville and get them directly from Breville but there's no link that can safely be posted.

They are available from breville if you call. I got a group head seal off them like that.

                        • And if you go to the breville US site it has more parts listed so you will know what to ask for.

If you're in the market for a Breville BES920 dual boiler, don't miss out on the deal. Many sold already so only while stock lasts I suppose.

I was seriously looking at this deal to upgrade our cheap machine. But reading previous comments on this page, I'm thinking an extended warranty is a smart move?

That being said, Good Guys specifically state they no longer do these, huh. So I'm keen to buy from HN, wonder if they'll price match the GG ebay price lol.

Do you guys think the extended warranty is a must?
