  • Removing EM6910 Steam tip - handy tip

I was just cleaning the measuring spoon supplied with my EM6910 and noticed that the base of the spoon has a shape that fits the steam wand tip exactly (ie its been engineered to tool the steam tip off). I looked in my instructions and nowhere is this little gem of information printed.

Might save lots of fellow EM6910 potential damage using other tools...ie shifting spanners etc.

Apologies in advance if Im teaching people to suck eggs but I havent read this piece of info anywhere on CS thus far.

    Cheers

I tried using that and the steam tip ended up chewing up the plastic and stripping the end of the tool.

I ended up using a shifting spanner to get it off, albeit with a little bit of damage...I can live with it

I removed mine with a shifter and now just tighten it up finger tight so I can get it off for cleaning without tools.

      Cheers

Yeh, it really is on very tight from Factory.. Ive attempted to remove but as Wushoes said, the end of the scoop isnt strong enough.. But really, do you need to take it off? I havent seen the need as yet...

A bit of moral support for Saambo.. Thanks for the tip, Ive not heard this mentioned before either. Im sure once people have undone it the first time with a shifter or the like, the tool youve mentioned will be very useful in getting it on and off from thereon. I find myself removing the steam tip on my Silvia periodically to clean off any burnt milk that gets stuck between the tip and the wand, but having a tool such as the one youve mentioned would make the job easier.

I mainly mentioned this because Id read on another thread that someone had damaged the steam tip using another tool.
It worked a treat removing the steam tip off mine so I thought Id spread the word.

Speaking of which.............who wants to hear about baby Jesus???? Apparently he could pull a shot you could walk across...or something like that :P
