Well I rang the repairer today and 24 days after arriving, it was still in the box I sent it in. Was told that it was scheduled for repair today and should know something early next week. Heard in the background someone saying that they had parts for it and was a straight forward repair.

If its a straight forward repair, then enough talk - Get it done!

            Woohoo [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

My 6900R is finally back in place.

Unfortunately it hasnt miraculously become programmable. The steam does seem stronger and is steaming the milk much faster.
The PF seems more secure in the group collar as well.

Ill see how it goes over the next few weeks.

Yep... sounds like they have got a repair system going for the Thermoblock - Group issue... which is a good thing...

I imagine they must have come up with a way to mount the group better else they wouldnt still be selling the EM6900. It would be interesting to examine a repaired or new EM6900 vs one of the originals (and vs an EM6910).

I have just changed the seal on my EM6900.  My portafilter does go all the way over to the right and cant go over any further and does not seem a tight fit as the old seal.
Im betting that your machine will start leaking sooner rather than later, Kaz  . But then thats what the 5 year warranty is for!

Edit: I just check the Sunbeam site and only the pump has a 5 year warranty. I was under the impression that it was better than that :-[

You are right it has started to leak. I am not a happy camper. I thought that it was all going so well. I will have to call Sunbeam, not that their call times are convenient when you are working. I will see what they say. Thanks to you all for you input it has helped me greatly to know someone knows what I am going through.

Re: Problems after changing group seal on EM6900R

I called back Sunbeam and they have sent me another seal a clear one. They say said that they thought that they had sent me two the first time when I received the new blue seal. Though I did not read anywhere that anyone had changed two or mentioned a clear seal. They also said if I had any problems it was because I had not had it descaled. I do look after it. I have gotten on to coffee parts and they have sent to me some more cleaner and descaler. I will put on the new seal give it another clean though again and see what happens.

lack of descaling wont be the cause of the leaking... When you get on the phone with Sunbeam, ask for a more senior Customer Service person who knows the machine...youll get amazingly different service...

I fear that youre machine has a problem with the Thermobloc and Group coming away...

A clear seal?? not a blue one? perhaps they have made it even stronger?

I have just put on the clear seal Sunbeam sent to me, it fits on top the blue seal. It now is a tight fit not like before. I gave my machine a descale and a back flush and it seems to be not leaking at the moment, but it was OK before, for a couple of weeks before it started to leak again. I will have to see what happens. I just need it to last another year until I can afford my dream machine.

You should go for the Thundergod version then.
