Sounds like they put much strong bolts in the Group Heat and TB... They may have also changed the seal.. and the Group Collor...

Do they charge you?? or was it fixed with Goodwill??

Good to hear that you are happy, my seal was going OK, now it has turned loose again, and still sometimes leaks and I am not getting the thick and gooey part I was getting earlier which is a big disappointment. Though I do get an excellent microfoam, not that that helps if you do not get a good crema.

Well, after about 4 weeks and daily calls to both Sunbeam and the repairer here in Melb, I have my machine back.

Its been fixed...steam is also better, which is a bonus, as it now makes very tight microfoam - NICE!! Shots are thick and gooey as ever. All is well in my world again, and I no longer have to drink the swill cafes call coffee!

No leaking (for now) ...they told me they had a perem. fix so no joy on getting a new machine. They also apparently check/replace about 7 other things which are known to be potential faults...so lets hope she keeps on going for a while yet.

As for the ECM, yep, should have got it when she said...shes not saying there is no need - we have it back now !!! ARGHHH!!! Im a silly silly bugger!

Sunbeam are also taking on an additional company to do melb. repairs as the current one is swamped....so lets hope the rest of you who have to send it in get it back faster than I do.

The funny thing is that after all the problems the wife said "I am sick of that machine!...why dont you just sell it and buy a propper one, like that Giotto!"
Sounds like the perfect opportunity to me! For once - listen to your wife
I agree... when the Wife says that, you go for it before she changes her mind ;-) If only I could afford to do that :-)

Id be keen to know how you get on with it...

Hi Marc...yeah, it does look that way in the photos, and I almost put up another to show its at full lock.

It actually does the same thing with just the cleaning disc in, ....so its definitely not right.

Its very firmly positioned to the right and the dose is right...although under-dosing does lessen/remove the spurting...but gives an undrinkable brown water.

Im also what I would consider a bit of a coffee nerd and have reasonable of experience with a few diff. coffee machines, incl. 3 of the EM6900s....

On the phone now to Sunbeam....Ahhh...got someone who knows his stuff! Ivan.

Spoke to him for a few mins and yep, agrees its not just the seal and to send it back
They even have a place in North Melb. now (used to have to go to Sydney).  So Ill drop it off (incl. the group handle but not other bits...and see what they do.  Will post results.

Guess Ill be having caffe coffee for a while yet.

Actually, looking at your group collar closely with your supplied pics suggest the group is coming away from the TB.... have a look at the "colour/\/coffee stain" on the outer collar edge joining the "grey" body of the unit...

This is the TB>Group issue problem...

Let us know how you get on.. I believe Sunbeam have a fix for this now...

    lattelover,

Looks like you have the Group Handle too center! Pull it tighter, lower your dose.

If this fails, then yes, the Group is coming away from the TB

    AHA!!!

I knew it was not just me! I too have had this issue. After working reasonably well for a year, (except for the steam but thats another issue!), it blew a seal...Ok, I knew about this, so I called Sunbeam, no probs a few days later seal arrives...same issue...reseat, check, reseat, check, call Sunbeam, complain that the grouphead has lifted, get told a firm no, well send another seal...wait, this ring arrives, seat, hope, same issue....and crap coffee from the local shop for another week!

Ive uploaded a video to YouTube. Check it out. Ill be calling Sunbeam tomorrow and sending them the link!

No I dont have one but hear they are great.

The picture you see is a tribute to my photoshopping skills.

I dont know how difficult it would be to do a real one, though there is a sign manufacturer a few blocks from home that specialises in perspex.
There must be others you could get a quote from.

So you have one? Does this mean I am going for an excellent machine, that you would approve of, and how difficult was it to get a special picture.
