    Hi Coffee Snobbers,
Just have a question about a little second hand Lelit PLO41e and don't think it sounds to bad for the price I can get it for. It looks pretty basice with no pid on it and also the steam arm only swings which is slightly annoying. Would anyone know of a way of modding it a bit like the via venezia steam wand with the Breville mod? I guess I can also add a pid on it. Any suggestionz would be much appreciated.

The Lelit is a great little machine. PID would decrease the relatively large dead band and give you more consistency.

The vertical steam wand should perform well but the later machines (as well as some of the other brands of this style of machine) have ball jointed wands. So you should be able to retro fit something.

    Cheers

      Hi Artman,
Thanks for the info, I'll be checking this one out tomorrow before I decide on purchasing it or not. It looks to be in good condition and thought it would be a nice step up from the Via Venezia I've had for around two years now. I've only been using a normal non suction portafilter with it and also the modded steam wand for the microfoam. I feel that it has done a relatively good job for an entry level machine but the Lelit would be the next step in the home barrista journey.

Years ago when I owned the same machine I didn't mind the steam wands inflexibility. You can still achieve microfoam with it so that's certianly not a problem. As Artman mentioned, you can replace the wand with the updated ball joint wand. Best of luck

Thanks for the advice as well gonzo89, I'm feeling a little better about going with this machine, it's good to know.
