If you are interested in trading in your Seaco on a new Jura can you please make contact with us. We service our Jura machines that we sell in Brisbane and will consider a Saeco as a trade-in on new Jura machines.

Please let us know what model Saeco you have and which model Jura you are looking to upgrade to.

I wish you luck with your Saeco. I am a big fan of the machines when theyre working, but in my case, that hasnt been very consistent. Ive had an Incanto deluxe for almost three years, during which it has been in for repairs almost every six months. This is not helped by the fact that Saeco in Australia is bankrupt and has been taken over by the Italian head office. In Brisbane, they have just stopped servicing domestic machines and look like theyre closing the workshop.
While you may have a warranty - I too have a 48 month extended warranty on top of the 2-year Saeco cover - its a huge inconvenience taking the machine in for repairs (on the other side of town, or now in our case, halfway to the Gold Coast) and, of course, you can be without the machine for a week or more.
I am very, very disappointed with Saeco for reliability and in fact am considering trying another brand like Jura, even though I still have three years of extended warranty on the Incanto.
Well watch your experience with interest.

Thanks for all the advice...I actually used to own a semi-auto a little while back and didnt really want to do it again - I wasnt overly consistent...ended up going out for coffee more than i would make one!

Did some research, tasted some coffees, started getting convinced that there wasnt a decent super-auto out there..........and then finally found one that seemed to suit me. A Saeco Incanto Sirius.

The biggest reason I chose the Sirius is because you could customise almost everything...theres a lot of flexibility in the brewing system, grind, strength, volume, etc. Its also very easy to clean; everything comes out from the front, including the brew group. I also got a 6 yr warranty just in case.

After taking it home and customising all the settings, I was really surprised at the quality of the coffee and the consistency. The coffee is great and its so easy!

Its really not much of a hassle to make coffee after awhile with semi autos, maybe the first few times you would be like.... I have to grind, dose and tamp which is too much work for me... Then after you get used to it, its really amusing(well for me it is), I would be like damm the pour is too fast... I better grind finer, umm acctually nah Ill just dose up and see what happens with that.
The real benifit is its more reliable and makes better coffee!
Go to a sponsor and test drive some semi auto, you might find its acctually not so much work or hassle after all.

i agree with the reubster... you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying the semis. For a significantly smaller outlay you can have a pimped (pidd) rancilio silvia and rocky sitting on your bench that will produce significantly better coffee. given a month or 2 in their company, youll be making 2 lattes exactly how you want them in about 3 minutes... cmon, you know you want to...

    Mon,

Everyone has the potential to be a coffee snob.... they just dont know it yet!!!!

    But seriously
you should consider trying out a semi auto machine, anything from a Rancillio Silvia [or even a Sunbeam6910] through to a nice HX machine.

I appreciate you dont know how to make coffee and think you cant be bothered, but the learning experience is great and youll get plenty of support here.

The resultant coffee will be way better than a super auto and given time and experience, way better than most cafes.

Before you go down the super auto path again,
I strongly suggest you hook up with a site sponsor and [with their assistance] try out a semi auto machine: If grinding, tamping, pulling a beautiful shot and texturing the milk doesnt put a big smile on your face, then go back down the super auto path....what have you got to lose?

OK so reliability wise, were looking at a Jura. That seems to be the consensus. You probably get what you pay for there.

Coffee wise...is Jura still a winner? Best taste? Does a Saeco make a similar cup of coffee?

Anyone know what specifically made the Krups so bad? Or is that going to be all super autos?

Does Delonghi fit in with Krups for the taste test?

Sorry to ask so many questions, just dont want to end up with yet another almighty disappointment!

    Hey Welcome to CS!
Thats what your probably going to expect from Krups and Delonghi etc. If you wanted a decent super auto that does a fairly good job, you would want to consider the Jura... Though they are a bit on the expensive side.

    Big disappointment...please help

    Hey everyone,

I went looking for a super auto on the weekend. I just wanted something relatively quick and easy as I have no idea how to make a decent coffee! Really, no idea...Im useless and uncoordinated. Just wanted something to make me a simple latte in the morning...how hard could it be?

Wanted to spend somewhere around $1500, a little more if I had to.

So Im perusing the aisles and a sexy little Krups catches my eye...the Krups XP7240 for $1230 including a 5 yr warranty. It was cool, it was compact and it looked like my latte could be on its way any second!

And everyone here can predict what happened next....DISASTER! The milk....oh god the milk. It isnt hot, its barely even luke warm. And the froth is inconsistent...sometimes lots, sometimes none at all (Latte setting). And I cant even get a strong enough coffee without putting in a few shots.

So the little machine that promised so much and delivered so little is going back to the store *sigh* I must admit, despite the substandard coffee, I will miss it...its just so pretty on my bench!

So what should I get instead? Im throwing up between a Saeco and a Jura...maybe considering a Delonghi if the budget can stretch that far. Does anyone have any advice, preferences, recommendations?

Before everyone starts hurling abuse in my direction - I know theyre all unreliable (thats why I got a 5 year warranty). From my research they all seem to be as unreliable as each other and its something Ill live with. And I dont mind a little cleaning up. And for the taste...Well, I actually like the Nespresso taste, so my tastebuds obviously dont work quite right anyway.

I just wanted something better than mildly coffee flavoured luke warm milk...Something relatively close to a latte... Any one?
Working...
