I have done as you advised - not too difficult at all .
As for lubrication I used Doustgrease which is non toxic food equipment grade grease good up to 190 degrees C. I got in the plumbing section of Bunnings.
Just finished a clean of my Factory, basically I took the group head and steam wand apart, wash all the parts in clean water, wipe off, lub and put them back. Took about 1 hr to do, tedious but not difficult. I have had a hard time trying to find food-grade lub, finally found a place in Sydney that sells parts and lub.
You might want to look around the net for some instructions and diagrams if youre not familiar with you Factory. It is much the same as the Pavoni Professional. Hope this helps.
There is a product called cafetto that you can get from coffeeparts or any good espresso machine suppliers or the site sponsors.
A bottle will cost you about $24 depending on where you get it but it will last you a long time. Follow thge instructions on it. Basically you just run it through the machine followed by flushing plenty of water through.
Whatever you do - do not use citric acid on your machine as Gaggias have aluminium boilers and citric acid will kill it dead.
I have a Gaggia Factory which was given to me last year and after several months of use think it would be good to clean and descale it. The instructions I have found all relate to machines with pumps, not a lever operated one like the Factory. Can anyone help with cleaning/ descaling instructions for this machine?
