If you remove the coil from the solenoid shaft (but leave the wires and pipes connected) does it still make the noise? You could have your licenced electrician test the wires at the coil to see if the power to the coil is switching on and off with the noise.

Apologies for the brevity, I dont like to keep the machine on with the noise. Sounds like its doing damage.

I wondered about the solenoid valve. Took that apart but no obvious issues evident. I could just buy a replacement and hope? I'll do a longer vid tomorrow to see if that gives a better idea.

    thanks for the input

    Yep, could be that...
Initially thought it sounded like the pump has come adrift.
Maybe some little gremlins inside with tiny hammers...

It sounds like an electrical coil of some kind switching rapidly. Sounds like it might be too loud to be a relay, and I don't think there's a contactor inside so my guess is solenoid. Why the solenoid is switching like that is another story.

Yep, too brief for me too, to make any kind of useful observation...

    started a topic Silvia Noise.

    Silvia Noise.

    Hi All,

Had my Rancilio Silvia for about 9 years. No major issues until now. Machine has started making some strage noises when trying to pull a shot.
Machine starts fine, can use water pump to bleed water through steam wand with no issue. Coffee button works fine without noise at this stage while machine is yet to warm up completely. Then once machine is warm, I get this rapid metallic clicking noise when trying to pull a shot. Water does come through the grouphead despite the noise, but flow does seem lower than normal.
See vid at link for better idea.

doesnt sound good. Any tips on what may be the issue?
    Many Thanks
