+1. Been there, tried that. I get some people are willing to give up a lot for convenience but for pitys sake, it's so far from making really good espresso it needs its own postal code.
..this forum IS called coffeesnobs for a reason and it has absolutely nothing to do with making huge compromises in the name of convenience

I do not agree with Senior member Robusto as to the quality of shots and machine quality of the E6. Perhaps the friends do not have their machine set up correctly. No comparison to pods ;^)

I've had my Jura E6 for two months and I am really pleased. I have smart connect and saved a latte setting for my wife which she loves. I like the double shot option with 2.5 oz water. I have a Jura Cool Control 32 oz ( open box perfect on eBay for $139.99) I use a Nespresso Aeroccino 4 for thicker foam and hotter milk. All in all a special machine that can do what Starbucks and others can do...

A Breville Barista would require only a tiny little bit more work than a Jura for much better coffee. If using fresh beans, it would be better than pods as well.

I have a Jura E6 and it is spot on to anything I find at Starbuck or any coffee shop from espresso to flat whites. I have the Bluetooth Smart Connect and it opens up a load of options. II make a number of drinks family and friends love. So DO NOT avoid...

I'm biased against such machines and from what I've had the misfortune to be served up by friends and relatives who have them you may as well stick to pods.

The more automated the process, I find, the worse tasting the coffee. Jura is probably one of the better ones, but in the end the high prices they command is not because of the quality of espresso -- because it's awful--but because of all the plastic whirly bits, transport mechanisms required to grind, carry the grinds, brew, empty the spent grinds and so on.

If you want decent espresso, I'd say avoid.

would like automatic grind and brew. I've been looking at the Jura ena micro online but it's 44cm deep which is acceptable but if there is something smaller that would be great. Basically I want something to load coffee beans and water in, press the button and get a decent long black

Kdjama, you cast your net a little wide, from sub-$500 in the previous catagory to between $1000 to $1500 here, and we don't know the size of your appliance cupboard.

You'd get more helpful advice of you state what sort of money you want to spend, and what features you want -- automatic as in press button and it grinds and brews, or separate grinder, volumetric push button etc...

Compact automatic machine - no frothing required

    hi all. First time poster.
I'm looking to replace my pod machine with a compact automatic machine that uses beans. We only drink black coffee so don't need any of the milk attachments. I'd like something narrow enough to fit in my appliance cupboard - is there anything on the market?
