You definitely could get another Silvia. If you dont need high volume drinks (number and size) an upgrade may be the specs of the single boiler itself. For an upgrade you may be looking at a single boiler with a PID & e61 group head, and you'll be drinking the best espresso you can get.....

I'm a bit out of touch of single boilers that have said tech specs. I'm sure there may be other espresso lovers who use single boilers who can give some guidance. Also have a look through the coffee-hardware section too! No better place to buy a used coffee machine than the CS forum.

Hi, I always drink a flat white :-) And yeah, unless there was a major bonus to spending more to get more, I'm wondering if I get another Silvia.

Needless to say, it's been a LONG time since I've had to look into what is the best home coffee machine for me so I thought it best to ask for some advice here since most of my friends think that instant coffee tastes good (maybe it does...I've never tried it).

I had always thought that eventually I'd buy a Rocket, but now I'm not so sure as back then my husband and I were really into our coffee but he has since passed away. I can get a VBM Junior for about $2,700 NZD (minus whatever I can get for my old Silvia as a trade-in), or I can just buy another Rancilio Silvia for $1,155 NZD.

My requirements are to just be able to make coffee for myself, typically only at the weekends and on the odd occasions I work from home. I have a Rancilio Rocky grinder which is about 15 years old, but serviced in the last 14 months.

I'm ok about paying more, but think that it would really have to be a step up in quality to justify the purchase.

Thanks in advance for any advice on the latest lay of the land in the world of home coffee machines!
Sorry to hear about the Silvia
What is your main drink of choice - you said one or two, are we talking steamed milk or predominantly black/espresso? The volume of drinks sound like a small/single boiler may still suffice?
