Sorry to open up an old thread. I’ve got this machine too (but with grinder and PID) bought in 2017 from jet black. A few months ago mine did the same, but while pulling a shot. Had it fixed at the local coffee shop and then it happened again about 1-2m later, this time I replaced it myself as well as a new basket and internal metal disk all from jetblack
That was December. All of a sudden, again!! That’s 3 o-rings in maybe 4-5m but it’s been rock solid this whole time.
What am I doing wrong?? Running fine for 4 years then just starts falling apart? What else should I be changing? Or is it becoming a lemon?
we’ve been discussing upgrading to an ECM for some time now but waiting on moving house before we do that (next year)

According to this thing I’ve read “The 2.5mm allen key is used to remove the showerscreen, by undoing the central screw.” I’ve tried a 2.5. And can’t get a grip in there to remove it. I was wondering if I needed a different sized key.

Hi TheHoge
Only just logged on and saw your message. Probably too late but just in case - I had to cut a slot into the screws so I could use a screw driver to undo them. It destroyed the shower screen, but I had ordered a new one anyway so that wasn't a loss.
When I put them back on I didn't tighten them up anywhere near as much. I've had no problems getting them off again now.

Hey Rod, exact same problem with my machine. Parts are on order from Jetblack (including new showerscreen and screw.Originally posted by rodpinna73 View PostIt was pretty much the screw that held on the shower screen, which I had to Dremel off, and the Allen head screws that hold on the nozzle or dispersion plate under the shower screen (part MC191)
Either from age related build up or someone much stronger than me putting them on, all the screws were a bugger to get off.
All back together now and working. No more leaks
How did you remove the shower screen screw? I’ve completely rounded it out trying to remove it!

Some photos might help, not sure which bolts/screws you're referring to...

Help!
Got all the bits from jetblack.
Got the middle bolt off, and the shower screen. Removed one of the bolts that hold on the next part to come off. Seems to fit a small allen key.
The next one though is completely stuck. No chance of getting it move, and I don't want to round it off (if I haven't already)
Any suggestions!
EDIT: of course, after posting this, I had one more go and managed to move it. Do these screws need to be in quite so tight? Feels like the person who put these in must have been a gorilla....Last edited by rodpinna73; 21 February 2020, 07:04 PM.

The silicone one also dont tend to stick/bake on like the rubber ones too.
Yes as above, good practice to clean the shower screen. Its stainless so a decent scrub should see it come up good. Once you remove the middle screw, you can gently pry it from the centre to pop it out, its often stuck in the small recess of the group.
Cheers

It was serviced about a year ago, so hopefully it isn't going to be too bad under there. Assuming they replaced it of course...

The new Silicone Rubber one will last much longer though...

Just make sure you get rid of every last little piece of the old gasket, and and gunk build up under it. It might come off in one piece or it might come apart in your hands. Either way near enough isn't good enough when it comes to removing the old one, spend the time and do it right. Some people say to replace them every year, I usually do mine about every 2 years.

Thanks all. Bits ordered from Jetblack, so I'll give it a go.
It can't be that hard...Last edited by rodpinna73; 10 February 2020, 05:10 PM.

I'd pull the shower screen off and soak it in Cafetto. If it comes off easily and cleans up well it'll be fine to reuse but if not you may as well replace it too.
The one I linked is silicone.

assuming these are the same group design as the old machines, you can undo the group collar (might need thin wall 8mm socket - I ground down a spare) - 4 bolts, then the seal is exposed and easy to replace and also clean the surfaces thoroughly. These bolts sandwich the the boiler and group collar through the bottom plate, so the boiler will be a bit wobbly.
I believe you can now get silicone seals for these.
Cheers
