We have a much loved BES860 that we've used daily for the last 8 years(!)
It's still giving us great coffee but has started overheating on the right hand side above the steam wand. We currently prevent this happening by turning the machine off at the wall when not in use.
I'm no tech expert but expect it's possibly due to a failed thermostat, or by looking at common problems with the model maybe an O-ring somewhere has failed?
Has anyone had a similar experience or can give some guidance here? I could give it a go but am pretty much a noob when it comes to repair.
I'm wondering:
a) is this a fixable issue and costwise is it worth fixing vs upgrading?
b) is it something I can look to repair myself (i.e. home handyman level) or is it a complex issue
c) any recommendations for where to search for parts
