Can someone point me to which gasket/seal youre talking about that needs replacing. Is it the one between the steam valve assembly and the Steam pipe?

    Thanks.

this happens to all gaggias over time - when your replacing it, make sure you get a silvia wand kit upgrade at the same time!!!!

BTW, I thoroughly enjoyed your travelogue going down south. I had spent a few years in the Oregon hippie land and remember fondly (and quite vividly) the elating sensation of freedom cruising the long long American highways.
    Cheers
Glad you enjoyed the tale. Cruising the highways here is indeed a different experience than in Europe. Just beware of misery/Missouri! ;D : ;D

Thanks JF, but it look like a different sort of beast. Ill probably have to live with it or replace the whole assembly.

Im not familiar with your particular machine, but if its like the valves on most commercial machines just keep turning the knob as if you were opening the valve for steaming and the valve assembly will eventually come right out. At which point the o-rings(s) and washer(s) can easily be replaced.

Thanks for the prompt response. Had a look under the bonnet and it seems Ill have to remove the whole valve assembly in order to replace the o ring. Am I correct? The machine at stake is an old Baby when they still made the steam wand from metal.
    Cheers

Same thing happened in mine some years ago - gasket is easily replaced. If you dont mind getting under the bonnet, its a cheap fix too.

It sounds like gaskets/seals may need replacing.

    Hi all you coffee sages
I need some advise on how to fix the above mentioned problem. The thing started leaking (when the pressure in the boiler is up, as expected) about a month ago and it seems to get a bit worse.
    A penny for your thoughts
    Cheers
