Re: JAMMED SILVIA SHOWER SCREEN
At risk of stating the bleeding obvious (Ive been caught out here, so I can), dont try to remove the screw while the machine is cold - that will seize any coffee oils hanging around. Also, try backflushing (with chemical) to remove said oils. A lot cheaper than bending your shower screen. I also keep a babys pusher (toddlers use them instead of knives) to unscrew - it gives you a lot more leverage.
Hope these help.

Re: JAMMED SILVIA SHOWER SCREEN
And once youve done that, change the screw head to something flatter and one that can be taken off with a regular screwdriver (not a socket).

Re: JAMMED SILVIA SHOWER SCREEN
hi phatboy
sometimes the only way to remove a flat shower is to bend both sides of the shower downward. this forms a u shape and holds the screw, then turn the shower in an anti clockwise direction(looking upwards) this will loosen the screw.
sometimes you need to use vice grips to grip the shower to be able to turn it.
replace shower and screw if damaged
do not tighten the screw, only nip up and then backoff 1/8 turn

Re: JAMMED SILVIA SHOWER SCREEN
Gday PB,
Cremakid is correct, looking in the direction of the application of pressure you need to try and turn the screw/nut in the anti-clockwise direction. If this is what you have actually been doing and the screw/nut will still not budge, you may have to see if you can grab a can of "Freeze Spray" (like this stuff) and direct this at the centre of the screw/nut in order to try and shrink it away from the thread in the Group.
When you go to replace the screw/nut, you need to make sure that you tighten it to "finger-tight" only, no tighter than this. Otherwise, the heating and cooling cycles of the Group will tend to seize the thread once again and you will be back into the same situation once more.
All the best mate,
Mal.

Re: JAMMED SILVIA SHOWER SCREEN
Yep, anti-clockwise, looking up at the screw head from below that is (which would be clockwise if looking down from on top). Same direction that you turn any normal screw.

Bill

It should screw out anticlockwise, Try using an 8mm socket instead of the screwdriver.
