If you can afford 30 bucks and dont want the hassle fitting the Silvia wand Di Bartolis will do it for you. Apparently you will have to file a bit off the end of the Silvia wand as it is a tad bigger diameter than the Gaggia. That is with the Classic anyway. I couldnt be bothered mucking around with it as I am the worlds worst handyman! Anyway first check that the mod is possible with the Baby.
If the wand can be changed and the boiler setup is the same with the Baby as the Classic you will be well on your way to good microfoam.

Yes, it looks the same as the standard wand on my classic. I replaced it a couple of months ago with a Silvia wand. Very easy to do, helped by the fact that the hex nut securing the wand is accessible from beneath without need to pull the whole wand out of the body of the machine (which can be done). However, from your photo it looks as if the securing nut may not be as accessible as with the classic. Anyway, definitely worth doing. The Silvia wand is about $35 I think, and you can also get two o-rings for $5. I re-used the Gaggia one so I didnt end up needing a new o-ring.

    21g? gulp...

i just looked at a Classic and it seems to have the exact same wand, and they can be modded with a Silvia wand ive read.
    might be a good idea.
anyone know where id find out how to take it apart? and how id get my hands on a silvia wand? surely one of you has a Silvia and dont want your wand anymore...

    Hmmm,

Strange looking beast of a Steam Wand. It might pay to see if you can replace this one with a Silvia Wand. Quite a few people have had great success with this simple Mod but dont know if it can be applied to to your particular machine. Perhaps if you can drop "Di Bartoli" an email with details about your machine they may be able to tell you whether or not the Mod can be accomplished.

Sorry I cant be more helpful gmeddy,

    Mal.

I dont seem to be able to load two photos onto one post.
ive seen it done by others though...
as you can see, the wand is quite short when the plastic end is removed.
so is this the machine that can be modded with the Silvia wand?
