    Re: Nemox Caffè Dell Opera

Hi - its my first post so go easy on me.... I have been looking at this site for a few days, lots of good info. Like you I have yet to decide what machine I would like to buy but in answer to your question I had a look at a Nemox Caffè Dell Opera. and had it opened up. It seems to have an identical brass boiler as the Silvia, a three way valve and all brass plumbing , and the same pump so I am sure you will get a good shot out of it, The portafilter is 57mm I think but well made of chrome plated brass and its a reasonable grinder from what I have researched...... Probably a good but for the price you probably would be lucky to get a reasonable boiler machine and grinder or under $800

AFAIK the Nemox have a 300ml brass boiler like the Silvia, but have a 125deg steam thermostat rather than the 135 on the Silvia, so steam pressure is lower. Properly used theyre an excellent alternative to the Silvia if the budget wont quite stretch and providing youre prepared to accept more of a domestic feel.

Id say that there is nothing wrong with this machine. It certainly is a step below either of the Silvia or VBM, in that it has a smallish 200ml boiler and a non-commercial 57 mm portafilter. Also most people would rather have a separate grinder, as having a grinder too close to a hot boiler isnt such a good idea. The steam wand also has a froth enhancer, unlike the other two machines. Froth enhancers dont seem to work too well if you want to make micro-foam. They do seem to make reasonable macro-foam though. Some of these machines also are not fitted with a 3-way valve for depressurizing the group after you make a shot. Im not sure if this is one of them, but I have seen similar (rebadged) machines that didnt come with a 3-way valve.

As for the other machines: Silvia has a 300 ml brass boiler and a commercial 58mm group and the VBM has a 750 ml boiler and a venerable (and quite desirable) commercial E61 group. Both machines have excellent steaming ability without using a froth enhancer but both machines require a separate grinder. The benefits of having commercial parts is that parts are usually much cheaper and more plentiful and you can try different parts like portafilter handles and filter baskets...

So overall, Id advise you to do some more research before dropping any cash. The Silvia and VBM are more expensive for a reason. However, this machine may well work for what you want it for. Just dont cheat yourself by thinking that this Nemox machine is the equal of either of the other two. It isnt, but it may well still do the job you want of it.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Does any body know much about the Nemox Caffè Dell Opera.

I know that most site sponsors dont sell it.

What is the plus and minus against the Silvia or VBM Levetta.

I assume at least the VBM is the better machine.
