the carnage is out unfortunately as I am A vegetarian buddhist. It would certainly be an easy fix. and often i so wish i could go there.

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Good call my friend, you wont look back, cocky crap on the circuit board of a sunbeam would be fatal to it. Andys idea of braided hose would be a certain fix. But why not try the "crawly cruncher"? guaranteed carnage. Its almost as much fun as running down cane toads with my hiace... mwa ha HA HA HA HA [smiley=happy.gif]

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
I own a 6910 and I wouldnt trade a silvia for one. As much as I love my sunbeam seems like a backwards step.Do what Andy suggested or get some food grade tougher plastic hose we use some sort of nylon at work for emergency showers and it is reinforced and can be used on a variety of situations.

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Theres a great site called Coffeesnobs that has heaps of useful information on the Silvia as well as other machines. I reckon a site search up there ^-- of the Brewing areas might be the ticketOriginally posted by bamboogal link=1206767477/15#20 date=1207027580Ill keep the Silvia. Just need to learn how to get consistently good coffee. any quick links for that. the repair guy said hell show me how to use it properly, so hopefully once the cocky issue is sorted ill be back to my twice a day habit.
Should i suggest that to the repair guy?braided hose?

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Trade a Silvia for a 6910 "Id like to see that!!"
I think eradicating the cockies is the way to go, you have a great machine, why go for a machine that wont last anywhere near as long as Silvia?

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Lateral thought here...
Braided hose?
Airbrush hose or remote control model cars use a similar size braided hose but maybe take the Rocky to a local Enzed "hose doctor", they make braided hoses to size and Im sure could knockup something cocky-proof for you that would be better than new.

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Try some surface spray...... KILL THE MONGRELS..... but dont down grade to a sunbeam you will be forever sorry its not half the machine the Rancilio is. Try a product called "crawly cruncher" its in a trigger bottle and quite effective.

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Create a water-filled moat around your coffee machine: large enough to keep the cockroaches away from the Silvia but not so large that you cant work around it.Originally posted by bamboogal link=1206767477/0#0 date=1206767477Call me crazy but I am wanting to either buy this machine or exchange with my Silvia.
Loved the Silvia but unfortunately so do my bush cockroaches who think the plastic tubes(steam and water tubes) taste like honey and chewed a few holes through them. I am sending my Silvia which is about 6 months old ( i think) to the repairers to be repaired and cleaned and then it will be goodbye (since i dont trust the cockroaches to leave it alone). The Silvia has been used approximately twice a day since bought new and only used filtered water.

Re: WANTED: Sunbeam 6910
Bamboogal,
If Ozscotts PM was the second in your inbox you probably got an Error: you are not allowed to access this section when trying to reply. This is a long-time bug in the CS PM system, I get around it by clicking the PM button rather than Reply and then its fine. Otherwise delete the first message or wait for another to come in to shift the message out of position 2 which is the only area that has the problem.
Re the noise of the Sunbeam, it sure is noisy but I think its exacerbated by the three pulses at the start. They both use vibe pumps but a constant buzz is easier on the ear than pulsed buzzes. So SPL may be the same between Silvia and 6910 (all other things e.g. vibrating top plate on 6910 aside), but the Silvia has a less intrusive sound.
