See my thread on this too, a great write up in reply to my question.Originally posted by lionfish View PostMine has done exactly the same thing on Boxing Day. Very common fault if you search the forums. Thanks rawill, good to hear there is a possible easy fix sub $100. Much more than that and I fear I'll be tossing good money after bad. I'll take the punt and let you know.
Full of important info.
Wish I had read it before I took it in so I could do the testing myself.

Mmm, I would like to have known what the issue was for the OP.
This same fault has happened with my 6910.
However, this machine is approx 6-7 years old and has made 6-7000 cups of coffee, so it is not all bad.
Question is going to be how much will it cost to fix it, at least it is not an "old model", they are still being sold new.
The only thing that has been replaced on this machine is the steam thermoblock, and the group head seal.
All fixed, posted in my thread.
Aha - all lights back on now.
It was not a sensor, but a blown thermal cut out (fuse).
$45.00 at the local repair agents and it is all good.Last edited by rawill; 30 December 2013, 11:22 AM.

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Lights Flashing Forever
I had exactly the same issue with my Sunbeam, we have had ours for over 4 years so we bit the bullet and bought a new one.
Tried it this morning and have had issues straight off the bat. This is particularly disappointing as we have absolutely loved our Sunbeam. Back to the shop today for replacement me thinks.
Nasty phone call from the wife whilst waiting for the train this morning r.e. machine not working. My wife without her long black first thing is extremely frightening

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Lights Flashing Forever
I find it absolutely unbelievable that we are having so many problems with these sunbeam machines.
It must be really hurting their brand.
I am going to sell mine, I have also decided not to purchase the sunbeam grinder and all sunbeam products are coming off our wedding register. This is all due to the issues I have had with this, supposedly, top of the line machine.

At least they sent a courier to collect it!
With Saeco, Brisbanites have to drive halfway to the Gold Coast to deliver the machine to their agent. And I had to take my Sunbeam to the Brisbane repairer - theres only one - 40 minutes away.

Yeah I thought from what I read from previous posts that they were extremely helpful - looks like all that has changed of late - maybe theyre losing too much money. although a loan machine would be nice .

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Lights Flashing Forever
I dont think its too much to ask. I suspect that the sheer number of warranty claims and relatively high value of the machine (compared to a $20 toaster) makes it unviable for them to offer something like this though. They could potentially offer a direct exchange with a reconditioned machine (ie, someone elses warranty return) from the service center - but I doubt this would be acceptable to most people.Originally posted by bennett link=1210854838/0#6 date=1214528018I dont understand why they dont implement a replacement warranty like they do with every other appliance they sell. I would much prefer to return to the retailer and get a new one - one day turnaround. Maybe its too much too ask and Im just being a whinger.
Theyve certainly become a lot less helpful and flexible over the past six months...

Yeah I can Im just being a fussy dickhead. I guess its a good opportunity to use fresh coffee in another medium like plunger which can also maybe help me a bit in picking up characteristics etc of certain beans. So there are positives if you look at it that way. Ive calmed down now.

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Lights Flashing Forever
Sounds like the same problem I had. The standby light keeps flashing continuously whilst the machine waits for one of the thermoblocks to heat up or for the temperature sensor to accept that the thermoblocks have reached the working temperature.
After getting mine back with the new temp sensor it would not steam properly and I could not change the steam settings on the control board (it just refused to go into the program setting) So - back to the repairer and I am now waiting on a new electronic control board.
Cant you use your coffee in a plunger whilst they fix it?

Re: Sunbeam EM6910 Lights Flashing Forever
Mine overnight just stopped working. The standby light keeps flashing but the machine wont start up. Still in warranty. Rang Sunbeam. Very strict with their rules. Will pick up by courier and take to service centre. Quoted 2-3 week turnaround time. I suppose this could still be considered very good service - although I am a bit peeved as I have 700g of fresh coffee which will be stale when I get my machine back ! I dont understand why they dont implement a replacement warranty like they do with every other appliance they sell. I would much prefer to return to the retailer and get a new one - one day turnaround. Maybe its too much too ask and Im just being a whinger.
