Phil to eliminate a variable I always turn knob on full.
My daughter, who has done a basic Barista course, came home from school and said that as well. Also I think I was using too little milk, and it was just heating up too quickly. She said about getting the right sound, and getting a whirlpool going.

Then you only have to adjust your technique.
Youll never get the knob to the exact same point every time otherwise.
I only drink blacks, but with the shiny new machine on the bench, the other half decides she would like a cuppucino.
Talk about useless me! All I could do was end up with a jug of scalded milk! There will be a lot of practise needed here. I think I opened the knob too much and blasted the milk with too much steam. Back to the drawing board.
Grate choice on the VBM, youll find grate pleasure tuning your self to the new machine/buddy. Im still new to levetta and its proving to be a very capable machine. enjoy the journey in search of that elusive good shot, were all traveling along that road too.
from time to time I find my self staring at this shinny new thing on the bench top! do you?
congratulation and welcome to club levetta
Rancho.
Welcome to CS and congratulations on your purchase and a great choice of machine!
There is now quite a group of us who have purchased the Levetta in the last 6-8 months or so... Im certain youll only appreciate more and more as you become familiar with its qualities.
After reading these threads for quite a while I have finally taken the plunge and bought my new coffe machine! There has been a wealth of good information here about various machines, and as short and long blacks are what I drink, I settled on the Vibiemme Domobar Levetta (single boiler) from Chris at Talk Coffee.
All went very smoothly, including the first cup, which was vastly superior to my 6 year old SunBeam, which was slowly dying. So thanks to all those people for helping me decide, even though you didnt know it!
My first puck.....
(there was supposed to be a piccie here, but it didnt work)
