I recall some EM6900/6910 users reporting problems getting their portafilter spouts off in order to remove their Graeme (black plastic insert for those who dont know the lingo
) and I agree that out of the box theyre far too tight to undo by hand. Ive had to do this several times to convert a bunch of new units to bottomless ones, and the easiest way I found to do this was lie the shaft of a big screwdriver in the channel of the spout, which gives you two long levers (the portafilter handle and the screwdriver) to apply plenty of force and you can just rotate the two (anticlockwise of course) and unscrew the spouts. This prevents damaging the outside of the spouts with vice jaws or the inside with the end of a screwdriver or something. Just make sure the screwdriver doesnt slip out.
This would apply to any other spouts of a similar design.
