  • Kitchen Aid Machines

    Hi,

New to the site so I hope Im in the right area. A friend of mine put me on to this site hoping that someone out there will be able to give me some information about the KitchenAid Artisan Espresso Machines and Grinders. The machines are around the $1300 mark and the grinders around $400 so not cheap and they look pretty good to me but I havent heard anything about them, good or bad. So if any one has any feedback on them I would appreciate any info.

    Thanks

    Louis

    Hi Louis,

Suggest that you might use the search option in this forum on using the term kitchenaid.

The machines are not highly regarded at all by CoffeeSnobbers and we like their grinder even less!

      Re: Kitchen Aid Machines

      hi and welcome louis
my quick 1st impression response would be that if youre up to that price point, to consider the Nuova Simonelli Oscar which you can get for ~$1300-$1400. and then a rancilio rocky grinder or similar. the Oscar is a heat exchanger machine which means you can pour a shot and steam milk simultaneously. the artisan i believe has 2 boilers - essentially Gaggia components - i guess you could also pull shots and steam milk simultaneously, but i believe that the Oscar is up a few notches in terms of quality of internal parts and overall (prosumer) designer

      veneziano site sponsors
<---------- sell the Oscar in melbourne. most likely so do other site sponsors.

      cheers

As far as Ive heard Kitchen Aid stuff is massively overpriced. You can get a similar (if not, way better) product for the price. There are many machines that will do the job better for the price listed in the Machine Review section. Also goes the same for the grinder.

Kitchen Aid machines are not necessarily bad as such (debatable), just not good value for money in my opinion. They do match the blenders and mixmasters nice though.

I think Mal (Moderator) did a write up on one and it was quite positive from memory... but agree they are a tad over priced... they are made by Gaggia entirely for exclusivity to KitchenAid.

Thank you MarcS. I read the write up and found it quite interesting. More research is needed I think before I buy any machine. Thanks again.
