    As above, and for machines that do not have an OPV you can hear the pump starting to stall at which point you stop. No issue.

    On a machine like the 920 that has an OPV fitted it's nonsense. On a machine like the 870 that does not have an OPV fitted it's a valid discussion point.

    I read on here that some people prefer the silicon disc because it’s not as hard on the pump? Is there any truth to that?

    Yes I use a stainless steel one I got off eBay. A few of the site sponsors have then as well. Any generic 58mm blind basket should be fine.

    Could any one tell me if I can use any 58mm blindfilter in my bes920 portafilter , I don’t have the silicone disc that comes with the machine and I need to do a clean cycle
    Any advice would greatly appreciated
