  • Saeco Magic Deluxe Problems

    Hi,

My Saeco deluxe was going along swimmingly, and then all of a sudden it didnt want to produce stream or hot water anymore. I used it a few more times just to make coffee and it worked fine, but since then the Bean and Grounds Bin Lights have come and and wont turn off. I have switched off at the mains, and when I turn it back on they come on instantly. I have opened it up to have a look, and its just a mess of wires!
I did, however, happen to be able to remove the steam pipe and clean it (although it wasnt blocked anyway).

    Any help would be lovely!

No experience with these, but sounds like a sensor or board problem.. Hope it all works out OK

Yes I would have to agree with AM here. Unfortunately these things are notorious with these sort of problems...( I am a victim!!)

My advice is to get in touch with the Saeco technician in your area.

How old is the machine, and how long have you had it?

      Good luck!

        Hi

if the ground bean light is just(not blinking) on, it mean that it want you to empty the ground bean draw, just remove the draw from the unit wile the unit is on for about 10 seconds.
If the ground bean light is flashing, it mean the CPU believes that the ground bean draw is not in. in this case it is the sensor or the CPU.

        Hope this helps

          Re: Saeco Magic Deluxe Problems

We have a Magic at work, it also stopped steaming - only a weak dribble. The coffee was still OK at first. Eventually a leak appeared, and the coffee stopped. Took it for repair in Bankstown, they said it needed a new boiler $250.00. Will hopefully pick up next week. We inherited this from another dept who had the thing repaired numerous times, hence why they were happy for me to take it off their hands. I cleaner her up and gave her some TLC, but did no serious maintenance for a year. However, I would have expected more reliability. It seems these auto machines can be a bit temperamental.

Re: Saeco Problems - Real or imagined??

Saeco are not bad machines -  in fact they are very good.

My Royal Professional has made over 17,000 cups and still goes well - I am aware of another that has clocked over 44,000 cups and still churns out great coffee.  Reason I guess is we look after our machines where others just use and abuse.
Ok - its not a perfect world and that applies to coffee machines and there is bound to be the odd one with probs - but it seems to me that some folks who have bought the auto machines would still have trouble using tea bags. Manuals are unread, daily care not taken etc etc.

The autos are complex machines with electronic circuits, pumps, boilers, motors, etc etc - they are not glorified coffee plungers!.     Treat them properly and you wont have too many probs other than those caused thru usual wear and tear.

Qld Service ?? The old Saeco service at Southport Qld was good - is now gone (even though Saeco website still comes up with address that are no longer applicable) and I cant recommend the Saeco service outfit at Loganlea, Qld - (I took my machine back off them after 5 weeks and they hadnt even touched it.)

My problem was water leak related - like most water leaks once you know where they are from, they are usually fixed with a new o ring seal - BUT you have to get the special red heat resistant ones - not the more common black ones.

If you are not technically minded with a good idea how coffee machines operate internally I would seriously suggest you do not open the machine to check it out" - there are killer voltages and scalding steam pressures in there!!  However if you ignore this advice and do look inside at your own personal risk, look for evidence of water leaks - ie. stain marks around hose connections etc etc.  These are a good clue as to where the leak is - even if the leak is minute, the released water /vapour can cause the machine to be earthed - ie it will shut down your buildings power supplys safety switch.   Frustrating sure but its a good indication there is a minute leak internally.

Regal Coffee in Southport, Qld are Saeco agents also  - Phone 07 5591 -5233.  Suggest you give Allan there a call - I am not pushing his barrel, he is very helpful to talk to and I am sure his service turnaround, is weeks faster than than is the Loganlea outfit.

Bean and Grounds Bin Lights have come on and wont turn off.
What vintage is the machine ?  :-/
Is it, say 5 years old, or about 2 years old ?
Starting from the left, what lights are on ?
Are they on all the time, or flashing ?

              Regal Coffee in Southport … Phone 07 5591 -5233.
              Ouch !  :-? Typo.
              It’s actually 5591-5323.
