Thanks for the steaming tips! I will give them a go tomorrow morning. Actually they are exactly what the trainer showed me. It seems I am just a poor emulator. But, practice makes perfect!

It was a slightly scary investment to make, especially since I just led a Bible study on materialism last night, but when my Sunbeam blew hot coffee everywhere twice when I was trying to get an espresso this morning I thought Id better get something a bit more robust and long term.

It is great that the people you purchased the machine from actually took the time to show you even if it was just a few minutes it has saved you hours of frustration

That was the same experience with me and Barazi I almost got a barista course on the proper use of my machine

I was hopeless with milk as well so I went back and they put me through my passes and corrected my mistakes now I am a good home barista that is hopeless at latte art but will get there or go down trying.

Welcome to the Silvia Club, Im sure you will get great service and espresso from her. Good to hear your getting a good shot out of the single basket they gave you , I have mine in the back of the cupboard never to be used again and only do doulbles.
It took me a while to master steaming milk as well but once you find the technique she does a great job.
Start off in the middle of the jug with wand deep and then come to the surface until you get a ch ch sound and stretch milk, then go to the side of jug and find sweet spot (you will see the milk rolling) once textured go deep to finish heating milk and presto lovely micro foam.
    Enjoy your new set-up
    cheers gm

    Welcome Miss Silvia!

Im not sure if this is the right forum but ... so excited today!

I just got home from CosmoreX Coffee, with Miss Silvia, her partner Rocky, a nice tamper and some of their freshly roasted Blue blend.

I have to say it was an excellent experience, they showed me how to dial in Rocky, warm up, brew, steam and clean up Silvia, and were full of useful information and helpful tips. Really excellent customer service!

Ive been practising shots (double and single), and I have never imagined being able to make such awesome coffee in my own kitchen. Still getting the hang of steaming the milk though, my Sunbeam was so slow it was really easy to control the process.

An interesting note. They did exchange the standard single basket for a slightly larger Australian one, and my single shots are pouring perfectly. So much for them being difficult!

One very happy coffee lover here.
